Its always been exciting for us to race at Brands Hatch because its only 25 minute from where I live and we also do loads of testing there, so on Saturday morning we came to the track with full confident, specially when it was raining really heavy for the whole morning and being a wet track specialist myself that’s give us even better hope for the race.

Qualify –
Condition – Wet
Tyres – A048R
So we got out to the track with one of the few cars running Semi slick tyres (most of the others running Road wet tyres or Wet cut Semi slick), we managed to qualified 4th (1st in Honda Class) out of 32 cars!!! Some car behind us are 500bhp 4wheels drive with Wet tyres! Also with the RX7 in front of us having engine problem we started at the grid on the 3rd position which give us a perfect position to start with.

Race –
Condition – Extreme wet
Tyres – A048R
Brake – Dixcel FCR Carbon plain disk with R01 carbon pad front and
Type Z carbon pad Rear.
I started perfectly on the grid and stays at 3rd position and then someone had an spin so we started the race again under Safety car. Both EVO in front of me were running road wet tyres and with more than 500bhp they both pull away from me easily. I managed to stay at 3rd comfortably and still with Semi slick on in very wet condition and seeing myself start pulling away from the cars behind, so after 3 laps I have decided to slow down and shifted 700rpm earlier to safe the engine for the next race.

Unfortunately with just only 2 laps to go, by somehow the engine decided to let go after the main straight, I ended the race in tears and disappointment, as it was an easy win for us in our own class if we didn’t have this problem.

Later we found one of the intake valve drop, we are still not sure what caused the engine problems but we will try to find out the problem this week.

This Season has been a bad season for us, with no win (best result was only 2nd overall in Pembrey) One big great new is I have secure a new Sponsor deal with a huge background company after they saw my performance under extremely wet condition, We have already decided some new plans projects for next season after a short conversion with our team, so we will come back in a better and more competitive package next season!!

Here is the video of our engine blew up - YouTube - Engien blow up Brands hatch 2008 please let me know if you have any similar experience before so we will see if we can sort out this problem.

so knowing your engine was losing power, you downshifted and got on the throttle instead of parking the car immediately and turning the motor off? There appeared to have been many opportunities to pull off the track right away.

With that said, what kind of valves are you using and what kind of retainers and springs? Are the locks new...? What was the installed height?
