K20A EK9 & FK8
I was 26 a couple of months ago and I'm starting to wonder if I'm getting too old to be driving round in a honda civic with an exhaust and a big spoiler.
I just don't want to be seen as a boy racer or a sad act living like some kind of man-child. I love driving my civic and there is nothing better than going for a blast in it of an evening.
Is it time to get a "big boys" car?
I have been looking at R33 Skyline GTRs as I have already owned one but I'm finding it hard to let go of the EK9.
I would appreciate you opinion as I know there is a wide range of people all ages

Live your life in your eyes not someone elses. People tend to forget that alot, you're not here to please others!

I'm 31 and love having a civic with a bonnet vent exhaust which is v loud!!!!

Well I have an S2000. Which I guess is a bit more grown up. I guess it's more about money. EK9s are awesome not only because of their performance but because they are relatively cheap compared to the likes of skylines etc. it's a whole different ball game.
Even S2000s are more expensive.
You have to ask yourself how much you love your car.
If the answer is a lot then why would you change it?

Chris.

I'm 25 and have an ek9 and I think I'll have mine in many years to come, they do look like a boy racers car but car enthusiasts will appricate a car reguardless of the age of the owner.. And as said above, please yourself not others..

Never too old for Hondas. I'd just ignore the people, unless its the misses... Plus VTEC is like ecstasy ;)

Just get a boring eco box daily and fit in with everyone's opinion then.
You can get whatever car you want, if it's fast and loud it's going to label you boy racer IMO.

im 23 and have a fully built honda and then a skyline r33 theres no replacing that honda feeling mate lol

I broke my EK4 up last weekend, and sold most of the parts. Mostly i made this decision because of rust on the shell, but also i felt i am getting older and no longer enjoy driving the way i used to, i am 41 and got two children, the 2nd only 3 weeks old so i guess thats made it.

It was only when i saw your very car, that i thought of re-shelling, but still thought about the image people would get see the old man in a hatchback Civic.

26 though? i actually brought my EK4 new when i was 25 back in 98 and never thought i was too old for years to come. But like yourself looking at other bigger cars and Skyline GTR's, Evos and Scoobs. I love my Honda's though, we have a Accord Type S as the grown up family car, so it's not too bad saying goodbye to my EK4.

I would even ask how much to buy your car Boyle? as i may buld another project n the future.

I'm still young so not a great example been 21. Although my father is 53 and has owned 911's, M3's etc and he finds driving my Ek4 a real pleasure, abit loud for him but when done right they are a motor deserving of praise.

Funny as hes now driving a Tdi golf looking for an R33.

Do what you want pal, worse case is its not right for you and you sell it.

Who gives a **** what others think, if you enjoy the car, keep it :nice:

P.S. PLEASE sell me one of your mugen lips if you do decide to sell up haha.

No way you are too old!!! Like Jrdn92 has said ''you are not here to please others''. I am 41 and if I gave a damn about certain peoples opinions, I would've sold mine years ago.... Just wondering what car I would've ended up with? It probably wouldn't have been as much fun as the 9 !!

Same here im 27 and have a 10 month old boy and driving on a 3 door for me is too unpractical this is the reason why I am swapping my civic on a 5 door if all comes through this week =(

aim 42 and have Honda from 1990. my last ek I buy it NEW from 1996 and still have it with b18cr.still love it and iam going to have until can drive:D:nerv:

You love your Civic en driving it but considering to sell it because of what others think??? You're crazy....

You will get really old really soon if you just do what other find mature. Fsck that, I have my own plan. You don't like it? GTFO :D

Simple answer is no!

Your younger than me Mr Boyle. Your only too old when you cant get in and out if it properly! :))

Its hard as I have started to see my mates begin to drive more mature cars which are generally more modern, nicer, worth a lot more money. And I feel a bit silly in my 17year old hatchback.....lowered etc.....but NO loud exhaust!

But unlike them, I truly love my cars and driving, so it doesn't matter, Im the one who is happy driving it, I am the one they get jealous off when I can jack it up and do any job on it instead of expensive garage bills for changing a bloody headlight bulb!

The most I will do in the near future is buy and nicer daily and keep the civic as a more focused track car, and all that will be so I have a more comfy drive to work and can go more hardcore on the civics set-up......not because I am worried about my image.

I don't understand why people worry so much about what others think. Be a bit "selfish" and do what you want. If your mates look down on you just because you chose to drive in a 17 year old Honda then they are not very good mates. I am turning 30 in a couple weeks and I don't feel too old for my 9 lol!
