Hi everyone,
I have seen on some forums where questions have been asked and users reply with the answers. The best/correct answer/s is then flagged so others who are just browsing can read the first post to see the question then look at the flagged answers making it easier and faster for them to find out what they are looking for.

It is similar to yahoo answers in a way.

Hope this makes sense.

Obviously mods will be the ones who flag the answers so it might be a lot of work.

Just a thought.

Andy

makes sense but then the person skimming may miss some other good info in the actual discussion, to me forums have always been about the discussion, not just a single best answer, do you understand what i mean by this?

I agree, and by having a moderator choose the best answer it is heavily biased by the moderator's view. What might be the best answer to one person, might not be the same for another.

If you link someone to a particular thread where you think a brilliant answer is later in the thread you can also link the particular post by using the URL of the post so it will open on it when clicked. You can find it by clicking the 'Permalink' at the top right of the post and copy and pasting from the address bar. Everyone else might already know about this, but I just discovered it yesterday :p

Yeah, I understand what you mean that is exactly what I do as well, some threads have the answers in early but I keep reading on to see other peoples opinions. I mean when you flag the best answers it can be multiple ones. Just an Idea though.
