Just weighing up the idea of having my drivers dc5 black recaro redone, since the previous slightly messed them up. She decided to bleach clean them and they've now faded to a light green all over pretty much.

Wondered if anyone can recommend any good reupholsters? preferably near the Midlands.

thanks :)

Capital seats do all the spare bolster and base foam sets but they arent cheap. Then its 90 quid a square meter for the alcantara too - a guy who does them told me you'd need just over 2 metres to do a whole seat (so you need to buy 3) plus the labour. Most people tend to buy another set in better condition and flog the shagged ones on.

id just fire off the same email to as many people as possible

i considered doing part of my door cards in alcantara but then saw the prices

Is the Capital Alcantara genuine stuff though & what about the colour match?

I only ask as the bolster cover colour match was c*ap on mine- replacement cover was pink

They are approved recaro suppliers for new seats plus spare parts so would assume so.

Thats why you need to get the whole thing done with the proper stuff. When I asked he said we could do just the lower bolster covers but colour match would be shady as the new stuff is vivid red and the rest would have faded over time.

They are very helpful on the phone if you give them a shout though, tbf for the prices they charge they can't affort not to be lol

As a word of warning the covers aren't 'genuine'- & are manufactured in-house. Whilst decent quality, the covers are deliberately shaded to allow for fading. Capitals words not mine

The centre cushion material is also different from OEM.

If they had the 'genuine' RED Recaro alcantara they would surely use that for the bolster covers instead of the stuff they use?

OEM alcantara bolster on the right vs Capital replacement cover

so they have said 2 things which contradict each other?! saying the new material is more vibrant and then saying the new material is faded to match a faded seat

any decent fabric shop should send you a free sample so you can match it, i have about 10 different samples of red suede here all sent to me for free

From the pic you can see the OEM seats are way more red than the replacement (copy alcantara) material supplied by Capital.

Recaro don't offer replacement fabric sections for any of their OEM seats so the stuff you purchase is only what Capital have sourced/matched themselves.

They indeed told me directly that the covers were shaded to allow for fading. I have personally not seen pink recaros before but there we go......

yeah i was eyerolling at their lying and contradicting themself by telling 2 different people 2 different things

like i say people do offer free samples or a couple quid delivered at most and i bet a good company could source it and do the work. I think the alcantara for seats needs to be thicker than what its generally used for so might need to ask if its suitable for seats

There was a guy selling these a while ago which turned out they had been re-done and i think they look awesome

Ah right ouch yeah doesn't sound cheap plus the labour on top. Yeah I was thinking about flogging them off, annoying since my passengers one is spot on. And finding 1 single to replace the drivers may be hard. DC5 seats sure aren't cheap! think they're going up in price it seems

Those look wicked! Be more than happy to stick those in the car :p thanks for the links. Wonder who did the labour on those yellow ones.

I was thinking about giving fabric spray a shot but don't how good that is, some mixed opinions

dont know if id trust fabric spray on seats, ive just done my door cards in suede and i wouldnt use it on seats personally, everything is made to fit without the use of glue i think
