Wanting to know how much people have been charged to have their arches cut out and replaced with new panels just to get a rough estimate of what its going to cost me, not including any spray jobs as the whole car will be having this done hopefully

How long have your new arches lasted, any signs of bubbling or rust coming back?

Ive been told no matter what you do the weld itself will eventually rust which sucks if it is true, surely if their treated right after their welded it would stop them from rusting?

Had one of mine done last year. Cost just shy of £1000 for a flawless job, though it was slightly more involved than the usual fill and respray!

Done by Body & Tuning in Mansfield, who I can wholeheartedly recommend!

Looks a good job. You get new whole rear quarter panels from Honda?

I don't I'm afraid. My local dealer has a great parts guy who sorts everything for me

also where is best to get replacement arches? Carz2.co.uk do them for £19 a side but ive not seen the quality of them so have no idea if their worth buying

The whole car was dipped in a pool of anti rust bath in the production line, so I always wonder how do body shops do rust protection because there is no way to do that once panel is welded on car.

I've done four arches - two on an EG and two on a CRX - and it's a simple case of drilling the spots from the inner arch, removing all rust to good metal and then welding a new arch panel in (as well as rebuilding the inner arch). To make it last as long as it does from the factory you can coat all bare metal inside the arch and outside in epoxy primer so all metal is protected and will not corrode. I would expect £400-600 per side depending on finish quality wanted and amount of rust.

thanks, good to know if its done right it shouldn't come back. Any recommendations on what epoxy primer to use?

You say 4-600 a side, is that including the paint job or just metal work?

Im tempted to cut them out myself and spend some time getting rid of the rust then take it to a bodyshop to do the rest

Jotamastic 90 (but can only be bought as 5L) or Lechler epoxy which can be bought in smaller amounts.
