B16 Turbo or K?

If you know that once you kswap you wont scope for more power then I would say go for the B turbo route. B18c4, 4.4fd s80 box and a good turbo kit will demolish most cars on the roads...

However... K turbo is the way to go... the power band compared to a b turbo is crazy. B series will always have that lack or torque low down even with a turbo.. in a K you can be 4th gear at 30mph and put your foot down and it will pull... no chance of that in a Bseries..

I thought i would stick my thoughts in here, I'm currently running a stock B18c4 and 4.4FD S80 in my ek9 with a Td05 turbo and 357hp. It's fast, 350hp in an Ek9 is mental, god knows what Robs must be like!

But now, I'm going over to the K series, my plans are to build a high comp, lairy cammed K24 Frank motor.

The problem for me, if you could call it that, is that a fast Honda to me should have an engine that screams and has the feel that you need to hammer it to be going fast, like really drive it well. Turbo'd ones just seen a bit lazy? All that extra torque just feels a bit lazy, you don't have to try hard at all to end up doing silly miles an hour, this is all in my opinion though.

I think you nailed it by saying what a honda engine should be , turbo is a great way of making power if that's all your after , but a good na vtec is a whole different experience to a turbo .

Have a turbo B18 myself too and seriously considering going K20 as miss being n/a and having to work for the power.

Glad I'm not the only one, I don't want the turbo crew to disown me though lol.

Some interesting points of view. To be honest I much preferred my B16B EE9 to my Supercharged Jordan. Mind has been made up to go K20 (possibly k24), and indeed if I get bored of that down the line I can always add boost.

Anyone know a ball park figure for how much a strong low mileage B16B is worth? curious to see how much it would offset the cost of a turbo build if i was to sell it?

Honestly I don't think they are fetching more than £1000. Everyone's going crazy for b18c though. Seen known smokers/abused track engines up for £1300+

fair enough, would still cover a bit of the costs in sourcing a B18C4 or B16a2 and some of the turbo kit. Hmmm...

Have noticed the B18's have started rising in price quite sharply in the last wee while.
Definitely makes sense to sell the 16B and get yourself a B18c4. For the little outlay more than a b16a2 it'll be worth it.

For what it's worth dude ,I'd save up the money and buy whatever power plant your after, and put the b16b into storage cos down the line when said turbo go's bang at least you will have a known good engine to fall back on ?
Hay don't knock the d16 turbo either lots of them about and cheep and can get good numbers too ? Check out
Midnight developments D16 TURBO

Only £1000 for a b16b? Over here they are selling almost as much as b18's. Just saw one for sale yesterday for 3200 euro, thats almost £2500.....b18's go around the 3500 euro mark!

I've seen just a bottom end for sale for 500 before now. Everyone wants the head but not the bottom end it seems.
