just done a compression test on my ek4 vti for curiosity and because looking 2 increase compression for skunk2 stage2 pro series cams, spring and retainers!

heres what i got:

1:211
2:214
3:218
4:218 psi

is that ok?

what compression would i need for skunk2 stage2 pro series cams??

going to put ek9 pistons in and a mugen head gasket so what would my compression rise to?? and would that be enough?

your compression is fine, with ek9 pistons and mugen HG you will be at 12.2:1 which should be enough for the pro2 cams.

what should be the compression on a stock b16a2? from factory!! and in psi!!

am i prety near it with those figures???

the psi is not what matters, its how fast it gets there and how consistent all 4 cylinders, they should be not more than 5% different and yours are not so your good :nice:

what is 10.2.1 cr in psi?

how do you convert it? as when im increasing the compression i want to do a test after, mugen HG and pistons to see how much ive compression ive gained to see if i can run the pro2's properly!

thats not how it works, you cannot convert. an i already told you that it would be 12.2:1 compression which is plenty high.

Compression (measured in PSI) is an indicator of the health of your engine if you think of it as an air pump - so the state of the head gasket, piston rings etc.

Compression Ratio (displayed as a ratio) is the difference between the combined volume of a cylinder and a combustion chamber when the piston is at the bottom of it's stroke, and the volume when the piston is at the top of it's stroke.

As blinx said, you can't convert because they aren't related.

Normally over 260psi... I have 230psi all 4 and installing Pro 1 soon.

I think stg 2 Pro is a bit too wild... You'll need more than spring retainers etc... like pistons to increase CR. You'll benefit more with Tuner 2 or Pro 1 with that compression, Even Toda A would be better.

jugbugz: im going to install ek9 pistons and a mugen HG to bump up the compression to allow for the pro2's! and as blinx said this should give me plenty of compression to be able to run the pro2's! :nice::drive:
 
B16a engine should have around 185psi compression, did you do the test when the car was cold?

think the b16b should be around 220-230 psi
 
no the car was still warm! done the test bout 5-10 mins from driving!
 
did my compression test on my b16a jdm 2 days ago
results were #1 220 #2 218 #3 218 #4 220 psi engine warmed up and WOT cranked 5-6 times till pressure maxed.

Head is stock

Bottom end

Y. C. P high Comp pistons
Nippon ring
King race bearings
Baffled sump

Fuel

K20 injectors
Walbro 255

Software
Chipped p30

Cylinder No1 255 psi
No2 250 psi
No3 255 psi
No4 250 psi

Pretty happy with this

Now I believe the engine will want more air and some head work but I'm on a budget and taken things slow

Should have it going for a map soon just to get a base before I go too deep

My main problem (and I know this isn't the right place for this tread)
Car has a miss-fire at operating temperature witch is kinda wrecking my head and will take time to sort..

I've checked coolant temp sensor reading 1700ohms and cross checked with a good one aslo reading 1700ohms

I've plugged out the o2 sensor and still does the same..

I've checked timimg

I've a fully rebuilt dizzy

I've cleaned iacv

Plugs look good

Next check is injectors I've K20 ones to replace these but might wait for dyno day for that and must fit fpr

(It's defo a sensor I think anyways..)

Might check resistance in plug leads..
And swap the map sensor and IAT next..

Any help or advice would be handy... I'm gonna lose my mind soon
