Hi, I’m in the middle of doing a b swap I just need a bit of help with the wiring loom, I know a few like the dizzy, alternator, injector plugs etc but I’m not sure where everything goes and there’s a couple plugs that plug in to two different sensors. I’m not sure if I’ve got a few sensors missing to, the engine was in pieces when I bought it, I’ve attached some photos, any help would be super appreciated. Cheers.

Its a fun game that one and no mistake.

My advice is to get the engine into the car, the loom in position and to work round the engine starting at the alternator. It is very definitely possible to connect a couple wrong, but most have a natural reach that suggests where they go when you plug in those on the same branch.

Is it an a2/vti loom or one from something else? My loom doesn't quite match the engine (ie it has a knock sensor plug but no knock sensor on the engine) so the right loom for the engine does help a little.

Once you're nearly there I can help with specific questions (ie wire colours of the 2 usual disputed round connectors) (IACV and TB I think!)

Thanks for replying! Over the bank holiday weekend I’ve connected the loom up and as you said the loom kind of roughly falls in to place, I was told it’s an A2 ek4 loom, pretty much got 90% plugged in there’s just a few I’m unsure of still, I haven’t got the box on yet as my clutch hasn’t arrived. By the thermostat housing I’ve just got 2 wires (1 black, 1 green) with no plug or anything so I’m unsure on what that is, there’s also a sensor below the vtec solenoid that I’m guessing is wrong as my looms plug won’t clip on. I’ll attach a few pictures and again any help is greatly appreciated.

cheers.

I agree with John, once you have the loom in, there arent many places the connectors can reach to with suitable plug in points

Need to take a look at my car (which is at work).

Photo three (round connector) looks correct for that sensor though. I suspect that rectangular 2 pin connector should go elsewhere.

Do you have pictures of the back of the plug so that we can see the plug wire colour?

First pic looks suspect, concerning that the plugs been cut off. May be for the IAT (some engines use a square plug, some use a round one. B16 is square and B18C is round for example.

Second pic is suspect is VSS on the gearbox.

Third pic looks fine, coolant temp sensor should be round.

Fourth pic need the wiring colours as above.

Fire over the wire colours and I'll go through my loom in the next couple of days.

Some snaps below. A couple are just for you to check the loom is sat/connected in approx the right position.

Thanks for that mate, that’s a great help!

I got the engine in this weekend, just waiting on gearbox seals and a conversion harness from Tegiwa and then hopefully it’ll run , just got a few hoses and vacuum pipes to fit that’s also difficult because I’m unsure of where they all go, again they roughly fall in to place so again

cheers for all your help, I’ll let you know when/if it runs
