Have a lsd box and b18 head sitting for my jordan at the moment and saving up for the block as we speak!

b20 or b18?
Most people do b18 but have heard b20 blocks can be good too but you need the vtec conversion kit? which i see is 180quid off tegiwa..

worth it or not?
anyone done it or know the advantages of it?

Thanks!

The B20 torque will be nice, but the B18 will probably be less hassle.

if i was staying standard id go b18 simply for the fact they were built to take the abuse. a built b20 is what i had but i sold it along with a type r head then built mine, that way i new everything was done right and imo the b18 is the more reliable option for a race engine.
but if your going to build it for the road id go b20,more torque low down due to bigger bore and more power and for the simple reason is because its different i went b18 because i had it all sitting there,it was for being raced and the money i sold the block for went into my build, mine is a complete build tho with custom bits aswell alot of money but thats only if you were to build
standard-b18
built-b20

Aw right you ever have it in yours?

cheers lad i think il probably just go b18 just wanted to know what b20 were like!

B20 block can be had for sub £200 these days if you scour the scrapyards.

Usually in better condition than ITR blocks as a lot are auto and have never seen past 6800rpm.

Most B18C blocks are very worn these days and need a rebuild due to worn rings and shells.

Also B20 with the same spec will have more power and more torque than a B18c, might not rev as high but who cares as it will make more power a B18c makes at 9000 rpm at 8krpm. And if built and looked after properly will be just as reliable.

Just remember to have a good engine breather setup as the B20 never came with it.

I have a B20 Vtec with a stock bore 13:5.1 comp, stock rods with arp rod bolts fully balance and I making 242hp at 94 oct. Engine is running like a champ....Just have to build it right...

i've found b18s to be more reliable especially if you dont have deep pockets to build and tune it properly.
