Awesome build ! I’m also doing a ek hatch , b18c build , unfortunately I don’t have an EK9 shell because I live in the untied states but it’s still gonna be an awesome build, I wanted to ask you if you got parts list for all the oem bolts and gaskets you got? If you do if you could send me it or post them thank you so much and thanks for posting progress on your build love stuff like this !

This looks awesome and its great to see a build done with all the niggley bits done as well as making it faster/prettier

Hey man! In terms of gaskets I just ordered every possible genuine honda gasket through tegiwaimports which is a UK based company. Also for bolts I only used a few genuine honda as they're hard to get here as lots are discontinued, used new genuine honda for the cylinder head bolts and flywheel bolts, the rest were either ones that came with the engine or the shell or ones I have out of my boxes of zinc plated bolts.

Thanks man! Lots more to go along with a bit of tidying up, but everything will be done right or better than factory where possible! Got some more done tonight so will post an update just now!

Back in the shed yesterday afternoon and today after work, got some of the nice shiny bits fitted and a few new genuine honda bits. Firstly fitted the new innovate gear linkage and hybrid racing shifter and put my battlecraft gear knob on, looks and feels amazing!

The linkage was also fitted with new energy suspension polybushes. Then fitted up my j's racing 60rs catback with tegiwa decat pipe onto the tegiwa toda style manifold. Here's a photo for the j's racing backbox, favourite exhaust for the ek chassis imo.

Then fitted a few new genuine honda bits. New washer bottle cap, PAS fluid bottle cap and clip on strut tower.

Out with the old and in with the new!!

The Meister R's were coated in ACF-50 before fitting also.

Glad to get all of that done tonight, also fitted a new front crash bar as the one that came on the car had a weird bar welded into it but didn't have the main structural piece, I believe some dude in Japan fitted one from a prefacelift and added the wee bar to save weight or something? Not wasnt keen on it so sourced a clean used one as having no proper front structural crash bar doesn't appeal to me.

Also fitted a set of genuine honda front brake pads. Will be back over after work tomorrow to continue and update again soon!!

More progress tonight! Fitted new front ABS sensors, buttoned up the exhaust, will totally finish getting exhaust to sit right once its fully up and running and I can get it on the ramp. Also did a bolt check of the front suspension and some bits underneath. Then started putting the front wings and bumpers on!

The C-West rear bumper and J's Racing exhaust is a great combo imo, do need to modify the bumper a little as its hitting the exhaust but will do this later in the week. Fitted the EK9 strut brace with new nuts also.

Looking like a car again. Now for the best part, Advan RG's on and finally put the car on the deck. Such a good feeling and the car looks just how I want, will lower the rear a bit and fit the Spoon Sports bonnet tomorrow but **** me I'm stoked!!

Lots of motivation now seeing it on the ground. Heaps to do but will crack on this week and update again soon, hopefully get it running up to temp and bleed the cooling system soon then change the oil and filter again then maybe finally ready for a quick road test!

This looks great I found that with a baffled decat and the j's I just passed dB for track (stayed well away from the pit wall on the straight @ snett to avoid grandad with his dB meter on the pass)

Well I'll likely not be so lucky haha, just have a straight piece of pipe as a decat but may change at some point if it prevents me doing track days etc.

Almost there! Great choice of parts. I wish that J's Racing could make that same backbox in 3" for the EK, it's number one in my list of backboxes for EK/EG/DC chassis.

Those RG's are sick. Quite envious haha!
Thanks man, they look better than I thought. Looks very period correct in my opinion. Like the ZeroFighter EK9's, with the spoon bonnet it looks even better haha, will post more pics just now.

Defo my favourite! Either that or some of the rarer stuff like the 5zeign border exhaust or the seeker one.

Put the Spoon Sports bonnet back on the other night and filled it with coolant (genuine honda of course). Bought a battery today and bought an OEM intake setup also. Hoping to get the intake in the post soon and fit the battery and battery tray on sunday, just have to mess around a bit with the grommet at the firewall for the engine harness as I'll need to find a way of getting it onto the rywire harness. Then bleed the clutch and cooling system on sunday also then should.... be good for a quick road test once I've temporarily thrown a seat into it. Still have to fit all of the interior bits and tidy it up etc.

Small update. Engine bay is complete for now, picked up an OEM intake setup with brand new K&N panel filter and Tegiwa carbon fibre intake elbow. Will most likely replace with a genuine spoon elbow at some point when I improve the engine bay and add bits over time.

Bled the clutch, cooling system, routed the wiring into the car properly. Had to modify the OEM ek wiring harness grommet to fit the rywire loom. Then fitted a brand new battery and also a new genuine honda battery earth cable. The car has now finally moved under it's own power for the first time! Big relief. Only issue I've had really so far was a coolant leak at the temp sensor in the head which I replaced. Had to remove it and add some thread tape and put it a bit tighter and now it's all sealed fine. Will be starting on getting the interior sorted now and then a first proper drive once the better weather comes.

Hopefully get the evo rally car off the ramp soon and send off for metal work so I can get the ek9 on the ramp and clean all the underside and treat with ACF-50.

Looks so good with that bonnet and those wheels! Spot on mate
Where are you located buddy? We had an Ek9org forum members meet not long ago

Thanks man! I live in Inverness in the north of Scotland. Hoping to take the car down to England in summer for a few events or maybe a track day somewhere!
