rapidly trying to find an engine for my car i keep findin the b18c4 from the
mb6 for sale, i know they are around 170bhp but are they a decent engine to spend the money on? are the lsd's any good?

IMO No.

The money that you will eventually spend on it, would mean that youd have been as well buying a b18c type R engine in the first place.

Thats if you are going NA, the B18C4 is a good engine for boost with its lower comrpession.

Also the S9B gearbox has longer ratios which make the lack of torque hondas have even more apparently. If You dont want to spend 2k on a b18cR though then, a b18c4 and a S80 98 Spec gearbox will be a good improvement on your current setup.

I personally love the b18c4, it's the perfect all around street motor, reasonable price, gearing not too short but not too long, good powerband, this is possibly the most common engine in USA but we call it B18c1

Going by the original posters username though, I think he already has B16A2, and the gains vs the cost of swapping out the b16a2 and swapping in the b18c4 plus the cost of buying the engine. Isnt a great plan.

my standard jordan at the time pulled on one with a full exhaust the gear ratios seem crap if it had a integra box it would be good for the money

For the money it's a nice engine, hardly more expensive, LSD. Only the 2nd gear is too long. But it does have more power and more torque. I'd rather have a B18c4 and swap the 2nd gear or wait for a Y21 LSD box than buying a B16A(2) for maybe 100 less. It's easily tuned to higher numbers, especially by replacing the dual runner intake.

If you're going to spend 500 on an EK9 or ITR box, you might as well consider spending 700-800 more for a B18c.

If your going N/A and if you can, you can stick some JDM ITR rods and pistons in there along with a 2ply head gasket.(If your taking it apart) to up the compression ;) and this will give you plenty compression.
Agreed on the gearbox issue aswell, S80 if you can get your hands on one.

If it's the same as the USDM version all gears except 1st are longer.

wtf, why would he do all that? If he was going to rip it apart he would just get an ITR to begin with, furthermore why change rods? and keep in mind S80 can be 3 different kind of transmissions...

Hey guys thanks for the advise, my car is currently engineless as I was breaking it at the beginning of the year but as my starlet Gt turbo got written off I've decided to bring it back to life! As money is abut short at the mo I have decided just to get another b16a2! Mabe next year I may get a b18c-r engine I just need it on the road right now as I'm offically carless :(

You guys have basiclly confirmed what I thought :) thanks for you advise! :)

I'm gunna stick project thread up at some oint as it's having a very extensive make over!

I did find a b20 but wasn't sure how much it would cost to do a vtec conversion and what other bits you would need for the conversion and insurance etc from what I heard they are up there with the k20!

if you get the b16a2 def get the s80 98 spec integra gearbox have it in my jordan and made a hell of a difference

Definatly have the b16 it should be in and running next sunday got a few bits to do in the engine bay before it goes like finish the wire tuck and find a battery tray for the boot, definatly going to invest in a teg box but they are quite pricey so abit of saving to do so the the b16a box will do till then :) just gives me something else to look forward to! lol

True! possibly not one of my best posts :( lol.

I have compared the gears and only 2nd and 5th are significantly longer. Or my memory must be deteriorating already :p After the final drive of course.
