From what i can see there is very very lil difference between the 2 engines stroke is the same, bore, is the same compression and is the same cams all are the same.

Yet it make less power and torque. Is this down to the 2 1/4" manifold that the C6 has cause i'm buying a 2 1/2" anyway.

I only ask because the difference in price between the 2 is quite big because every1 wants the JDM....

HELP PLEASE.

i thought the only difference was the manifold and the ecu. engines are identical i think

i would of thought it would be something to do with the increase in power on the JDM.... Using more/ or more expensive uprated parts etc............

correct me if i'm wrong but i think the jdm b18c is tuned to run with 104 octane and uk/us tuned u run much lower octane level...

sory for bringing this old thread

So i see engines are identical only thing is difrence is Intake-manifold,ECU? is that it

no, exhaust manifold,+ecu.

If thats the only difference, then if it proves too hard to get hold of the B18C, just get a B18C6 and a B18C ECU and a B18C manifold or aftermarket manifold.

about the octane level
if you use jdm ecu you 're gonna have engine problems?
for example in my place we have 99 octane fuel ...

Same goes for the EK9 I would say.

Thats why I use V-Power, 99 RON.

the ECU will just retard the timing a little. im using a JDM P73 on my JDM B18C here in the states and im using the lowest "high" ocatane available at regular service stations in the country!... 91 Ocatane. runs smooth.

... so what im saying is just use an ECU that will work and not throw codes.

any Idea what Ecu will suit standard B18c6

S300

or

Spoon

Mugen

i heard Mugen does most of a job but thats only words from lads(rumors)

Skunk2, use the standard ECU that it comes with. when you start modifying the motor, then go with something that is tuned more aggressive. personally, i would go for S300 as you can really fine-tune everything.

The manifold, Cat & ECU are all different on the B18C6...

The differences were mainly for tighter UK emissions & noise legislation compared to true JDM cars.

The UK cast manifold is particularly poor, with 2.25" collector & the CAT is longer & skinnier than a JDM. This provides a greater restriction causing the CAT to run hotter, thus more effectively..

Swapping the aforementioned parts for JDM equivalents or quality aftermarket upgrades should see the C6 making the same power as an equivalently modded JDM B18C

I have a Mugen intake, JDM 4-1 manifold, hi-flow CAT & Spoon system on my car now. Just the ECU to go now & should tie it all up nicely together!! The eCtune seems a very popular & versatile setup in the USA.

For ECU choice id say Hondata or eCtune as they are fully mappable to your modifications. Will (EK9Turbo) can map Hondata, & Artech are the UK dealers for eCtune!

Spoon or Mugen ECU's have a generic map. Whilst they may offer an improvement over stock, they wont take into account all the physical mods that may be on an engine.....especially when the owner has fitted hotter cams or had flowing work done....

so which is better for a swap b18c or b18c6 ?

if your just using the block and you already have a header then it does not matter which one,,the blocks are the same!! :nice:

you will want a mappable ecu and remap it anyway to reap the benifits as after all your changing the engine to make your car perform better,,

not to remap it would almost be rude :nice:

How much power does a B18C run if mapped on 95RON?

SUL is not readily available where I live.
