Am have a fully rebuilt b18cr with all genuine Honda parts and ek9 pistons.

Where should i go from here? B18cr or b16b head with aftermarket cams or will aftermarket cams touch?

Heard that they can?

Also i currently have a b16a head that has been skimmed ported an polished with reground valves and dual valve spring retainers but dono would that work seen as its skimmed?

Any info would be great please no negative comments haha

Teach me :)) :busy:

Thanks :woot:

I believe b16 head been a tiny bit shorter than b18 YES i think it will hit specially with bigger cams...

Ok so i need an unmolested b18cr head wow thats gonna be hard to find one that hasnt been skimmed :eek2: am what else do i need

Not to difficult to find out the clearnace,
I've never used it but you can get like a clay you put on the piston and then stick the head on, time it up, then lock the vtec on and hand crank the engine. The valve will hit the clay and squish it to the clearance it has.
Take head back off and measure the thickness of the clay and there is the clearnace. If any.

According to my sources the b16a head is the same as b16b and b18c in terms of height etc, just what's in the head that's different.

Thank you jesse ya i know about the heads being the same once the internals are changed but i was told the b18 head is slightly taller.

Was told that by a couple of people?

But il measure one an then measure my own.

Also ya we have the clay thing and we are going to try that with my head first an see what happens :secret:

Thanks dude :))

It can be as tall as it likes will make no difference, it's the chamber that's important in this case.
From what I've gathered b16a/b and b18c all have 42.7cc combustion chamber volume.

The deck height(block) is taller on the b16b/b18s than a 16a but that's not going to effect the head.
Done a very quick google and it's thrown up that they all have the same "PR3" casting stamp on them.
Makes me believe they are the same, but as I said, doesn't matter if they aren't it's the volume inside the head that matters to you.

Ok the lad that does the work for me was sayin the fact that my head is skimmed might mean that the pistons an the valves will touch because ek9 pistons are so big

We did have this debate earlier on this month.
Think the outcome was dependant on how much skim was done? You on stock b16b cams ATM right?
Think the only way to know for sure is to clay it and see. Bit of a faff but...
Obviously if you had aftermarket pistons the valve reliefs are that much bigger.

I know a fella that had a stroked b16b(essentially same as you) with ek9 head and his ran great. Not sure what the skim if any was though.
Might be worth a message to him if he's still on here.
Matt o was his user name, nice bloke.

Gonna go ahead with this finally haha jus hope my head clears it an everythin is perfect alot to ask for in an imperfect world hahahaha
