Best Panel filter?

Those running standard airboxes, what panel filters you got in them? Going to be giving my EK4 a service in a wee while, thinking it best to upgrade the filter rather than keep a crappy paper one in there. Looked at K&N, HKS, Spoon and Pipercross.

As far as I can see the Spoon number is an overpriced paper replacement, at a more reasonable £30-40 the HKS and K&N ones look better but what's best? Just looking for something a bit more free flowing giving a better throttle response and improved MPG.

I ran a hks one with a cold air feed and ditched the resonator box bits as well

KnN gets my vote, had the hks foam panel didn't really notice any difference to stock. Swapped for the knN actually felt a bit better response. Doubt there is much in it. I just prefer the KnN as I have seen numerous tests over the years and all seemed to favour the KnN material for better flow with adequate filtering. Also the fitment and seal was much better on mine than the HKS.

Plus that KnN are standard fitment of mugen air box's always a good sign.

K&N in my opinion
In terms of power you will hardly notice differences between all the aftermarket panel filters, but you can see the differences when you observe them and their quality, which is important if you think that you can wash it and use infinite times..
K&N is the best, you won't regret

K&N is the best on the market. Drop-in or Cone, I use them both, for over 21 years.

Another vote for K&N... Used them for years and even after numerious cleaning/oiling session, they still look in great condition.

X2 k&n!! Hks, spoon way to overpriced.. Just my 2 cents.. Also had great results with oem filter

The ability to simply wash and re-use the filter is what attracted me to the K&N, when I helped build a Mini years ago with my brother and dad we stuck a K&N filter on it and even then I liked the filtering design. I saw the cross section of the HKS filter and wasn't convinced but I thought I better ask and find out if they were effective. Thanks for the advice guys, will be going with the K&N!

Where's the cheapest online retailer to get them? Had a look at Demon Tweeks but the postage is a bit steep.
