Hi guys

I have just bought a light weight bonnet made from FRP and I see that some people run them with bonnet pin and some don't. I would rather not due to it looking much cleaner but for safety reasons they might be required.
Are the required??
Any experience or thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Personally I run the oem catch and pins. When I didn't have the pins fitted you could see the air getting under and trying to lift the bonnet on the corners. I wouldn't run a light bonnet without pins

Iv always ran pins on my carbon bonnets. (Aerocatches)

Especially my shift sports. At the start I didn't want to as it was so expensive but after 1 track day I was scared as the oem latch was barely holding it. I honestly thought it was going to flip up and hit the windscreen as it was flapping about that much. Put Aerocatches on and it was perfect. :nice:

Sounds like it would be a lot safer to use them then.
I'm going to paint my new bonnet but would you paint the catches white to match it leave them black?

If you want it to look subtle then I would paint the catches same colour as the car.

Iv not used any catches, didn't won't to drill into my carbonfibre,
I mounted my window washers under my bonnet.
I also used the rubber strip at front of the oem bonnet
On my carbon bonnet and that helped with the bonnet flapping.
But it still flaps a little,

I have bought a shift sports. It is so light. You can pick it up with one finger

Best bonnet mate :nice: I absolutely loved mine, insanely light but I would recommend using bonnet pins with it as with it weighing like 5kg or something silly it does lift pretty badly
