hi there, great site let me just say to start off!

now, i am really interested in buying an ek9 for my next car as i can now afford the insurance for one.

what im interested in is if there are any major differences in spec between the 97-98 and the 99-00 models apart from the front end and the dash?

i would prefer the phase 2 as i prefer the front end and dash controls being near the driver but have not seen any for sale in a long time, all i see is phase 1's??

just wanted to know what i should look out for and also if anyone knows any decent import dealers who might help me source a nice one?

any help or pointers will be much appreciated!!!

thanks, jon :)

jon i have a face lift type Rx 2000 you get the newer dash and face lift front end ,folding electric door mirrors, drilled pedals,i think the cams on the 99-00 may be slightly different as well ?if you live in the uk expect to pay for a 99-00 type rx £ 7000-7500 for a good-fair one with 50-60k on it and £9000-9500 for a mint 00 with 25k-45k on it from a dealer ,private a little bit cheaper but not much if you are in the uk check this out mate www.fastjapcars.com ,this is where i got my
ek9 from and can vouch for him his ek9's are top notch as it took me 6 months for me to find the right ek9

The Mayor Differences, I can remember are.

1. Front Bumper + front lip
2. OBD2B Ecu
3. Dash Board

I've read on the internet, mostly translated japanese sites, the intake manifold is different (it has better flow), plus the suspension setup and supports are better. And more chassis rigidity has been added.

It all depends for WHAT you want you want your car?

For daily drive, look, i would prefer to buy a 99-00 because is beatiful! I really don't like that much the 97-98 look.

For racing, i would prefer a 97 - 98 one, why? it's cheaper, and the ecu is OBD2A, you have more options for buying a new ecu, (apexi power fc + commander, etc) You're going to spend less money (no conversion jumper, and no conversion harness.

And if you have money and want to race, i recommend the 99-00 i love my car, check out the picture of our members cars, on the vbgarage link above.

Welcome!

for what you're going to use your car? daily drive ? race only ? both ? ;)

its gonna be a good weather and weekend car to have fun with, im gonna get a cheap run-about to go to and from work in instead of racking up the miles on the ek9:)

and hopefully want a standard one if possible so i can add my own touches:D
