Buying an EK9 - Overpriced?


The perception by many people is that EK9s are expensive.

I did think that initailly, but not any more. IT must be as you get used to it..
 
I do agree that it is overpriced however, it is worth as much as someone is prepared to pay for it.

Given the age of them now it might get to a point where you have to pay the price to get the one you are after....

It fluctuates. I always keep an eye on the auctions, just to keep an eye on how much I will be spending when I bring another in. Some weeks there are loads, some not so many. Exchange rates also make a big difference, but unless you are in the know it is very hard to predict what is going to happen. Some of the best bargains are grade R cars. Some of them have very little damage, i.e. replaced front wing, and are graded R when the condition can be as good as a grade 4.
 
Don't believe people that tell you cars always depreciate, I owned a mint MK1 Eunos Roadster, which I paid £1300 for & 2 years later sold for £2000.

I believe the key is to keep the car in good condition & sell them when there are 90% **** ones to 10% good ones.

This will happen to EK9's in a few years.

people here still saying a prefacelift 9er is worth 5.5 grand are on drugs

Agreed, looking more like 4.5 now.
 
Is that true that USA will be able to import them in a few years?? Surely they will all disappear from japan if that happens. They go nuts for RHD and JDM

Yes I believe so. They are only rust allowed to import R32 skylines so I will be a while.
 
This will be take a long time to import an EK9 legally to the USA. Because the car have to be 25 years old or older. They are allowed to import 1989 nissan skylines now.
In canada it is 15 years. Wasn't there a canadian member on here who owns a EK9 and have so much fun visit the USA with his car? :nice:
 
Just got an email from the chap, the said car is sold. I do question how for that much haha.
 
I bought this car lol. For just over 6. It may be a little pricey but its only on 60k and is completely clean. I've already taken that sound system out and sold for £200 so money back straight away. Like was said, its worth what ya willing to pay. And this is worth it to me!

Enjoy it, look after it and it might even make you a few quid.
 
Its been recently underseal and has stacks of history. New disks and pads all round. Viper alarm with proximity sensor and the seats are like new! Like i said its completely clean and straight. And i will enjoy it mate cheers :)
 
6 is steep for a pre-facelift. But if it gives you years of trouble free motoring and enjoyment then its maybe well worth it. Best of luck with it :nice:

Yea i saw a couple on 100k for 5k. A couple at 5.5k but nothing with 60k as tidy as this one for under 6. I saw one go with 48k on it for 9k. Don't be offened, its my money and i shall do with it as i please.
