Been doing a fair bit of work recently n got everything set back up on my motor, TPS sensor set to right voltage 4.5v when fully open etc.

Went to start it and it wouldnt turn over.

Noticed a CEL had came on so pulled the code off and its ...

CEL Code 15
"Ignition Output Signal missing or defective ignition output signal"

I have checked my timing belt cam/crank timing and it is fine. I havn't moved or had the distributor off since the last time I used the car either. I'm struggling on how to get the car to turn on now.

Anyone know what maybe wrong or any ideas I can try?

cheers,

Alan

taken from honda-tech:

check the yellow/green wire from the distributer.

the helms says that intermitten problems could be due to the connector at the distributor, the connector at the shock tower, or a loose wire at the ecu.....or a break in the wire of course....

make sure the connectors are clean and well connected....

Tama666: Cheers for that, I am doing a bit more research as we speak then I'll head back outside into the garage and check all them.

good luck. honda wires are of good high quality. Unless you cut one they rarely fail. Its most likely a connector end. Check and clean all connectors is my recommendation.

Not to thread jack but im having same code except my car starts and it runs just has a huge lack of power.. brand new diz out of the box just installed today and im throwing this code now.

Tama666: I went out and checked all the wiring, cleaned them up and sanded grounding points/connections etc and still the same code :(

Mark: Hmm, nightmare with the same code. I've ordered a new distributor rotor and cap. and a set of new spark plugs and gonna see if that can sort it. I don't have enough experience to say whether these are the same problems by throwing the same code but hopefully we can sort them both out!

Everywhere im reading people that have code 15 their cars will not start or run, i dont understand how my car runs then. Also im not getting why i have this code with a new diz?? Im searching around ill let you know if i find something

Yep thats what I've found, peoples cars will not start or run.
I'll keep this thread up to date on what I find aswell

what obd2 code are you throwing for the ignition output? like p0321 p1341 etc. It might be easier to find information on this using that code instead of code 15

The first one looks like it plugs to a computer through a usb, the second one reads directly from car. just goto advanced or auto zone they have them and will let you barrow them. i emailed the company that sold me the diz they are sending me a new one so that should fix my problem. so you have no spark? do you have power at your coil? blk yel wire on + on the coil

Well I've fitted new spark plugs and no luck,

Tested the dizzy and the Ignition HT coil check returned no resistance.

I'm not entirely sure I done the check correctly but I had the om meter set correctly for sure as I read the manual for that.

I checked between the colours (obviously correct + / - connectors) with the ignition turned off and it returned 0.00

I unscrewed the ignition coil and looked behind it and there is no oil/dampness from what I can see either.

Would this mean my ignition coil is gone?

zero ohms would mean theres a short. i would imagine there should be some resistance across the coil.

i am having similar problem car stalls and makes hurendous noise when try to restart. 10 mins later works ok for a bit but with a slight loss of power.
cel code 15.

Samething here, CODE 15, but car running good.

I am running a B16B with OBD1 chipped ecu in a '93 JDM EG6.
Lately had a isue with a sparkplug cable came out from my dizzy while doing a burnout. This made some circuit I think, then suddendly my car stopped running. After installing a new coil, I was able to drive again. I ordered a secondhand OEM OBD1 Dizzy and I am running the obd1 dizzy now, and my car is showing cell code 15, but running fine. With the OBD2 Dizzy I am not getting any code. So my cell code 15 is with the OBD1 Dizzy. What exactly I dont know, but the car is still driving code with this OBD1 Dizzy

Have you tried replacing the ignitor in the distributor? I'm having the same issue w/code 15.

The car starts fine and drives fine, feels a little sluggish but runs. Once the motor gets warmed up it'll just randomly die out and won't start back up. So let it sit for a bit then try again and it starts right back up. Since I have a Hondata s300 I datalogged today to see if I could catch or see something when the car dies out. When it dies it just throws code 15

Anyway, I buddy of mine said try and replace the ignitor in the distributor to see if that fixes the issue
