Honda civic ee9
After owning a few hondas in the past iv recently been enjoying my daily diesel Seat leon BTCC which ticks most of the boxes and to be honest i was out of the honda scene for a short while and wasnt planing on looking back! Untill one day a friend told me he knew someone who had a 'box' shaped civic which he was going to view and wanted me to come with him.
So we went to view this car at first i didnt take much interest till i realised the bodywork for this old girl was in pretty good condition.., the underbody, door drains, arches, sills etc were all pretty much rust free and solid with 130k miles i knew i wanted this car!

My friend who was originaly planning on buying the car decided it was out of his budget to get it runing (not forgetting to mention it was a rolling shell) so i did a deal and arranged recovery to bring it back.

In all fairness the car does need quite abit of work doing and some parts needed such as exhaust, radiator, indicators etc which i later realised wernt so cheap to get hold of

Thanks, iv ended up fully stripping..wasnt really planning on going so far with it at first but now the interiour is bare and all bodt pannels are off.. I will get some pictures uploaded so you can see the work

So as soon as the car landed i started to strip the inside to inspect it further.
I took out the rear plastics, roof lining and even the dash.

Im glad i took out the roof lining the drains were badly blocked and the sunroof tray had rusted which would have probably start leaking sometime soon!

Here are some more pics...

The gearbox was emoved from a crx which had covered 46k miles but was dry stored after it was written off and ended up getting broke

The new sunroof is in new condition :))

The car is now sat on axel stands and the front all stripped and nearly bare.
All the front components have been removed and will be getting sent off to be sandblasted, in the meantime iv i started to scrape off the underseal from the front wheelwell to inspect the underneath further!

A before picture of the driver side.. Started to scrape some bits off and realised i hadn't taken a picture

So this is what 8 hours of scraping and wirebrushing looks like
Screenshot_20181113-195010.png

Degreased,pannelwiped and zinc coated

Although there was no sign of rust and the wheelwell was in very good condition, i still coated it with red oxide primer to avoid any rust spectacles which could potentially grow in the near future.
With no plans of selling her i went the extra mile to make sure no corners were cut and everything was being done to a very high standard!

Restonechipped over the primer,Based and clearcoated! Soo happy with the result

Wet flat / Scotched down the engine bay for paint as there wasn't any rust or bubbles anywhere so it saved alot of time from sanding.

Picked up another carpet. Removed from a EF9 :D

Nice one dude. Im trying to take off the underseal mainly without messing with the factory stonechip but some areas have ran through to bare metal. Il tape up next time. Them rears are going to be fun!! :))

Last week has been a very productive week! i booked a couple of days off work and ended up getting some more wheelwell work done. So the front is now nearly done with both the front arches stripped from the underseal, stonechipped and painted again
Heres are some more pics of the work

i still cant get over how clean she is! For a UK spec car which has seen the roads since 1990 i was expecting a hidden suprise

All fully coated and treated for the years to come!

Got some more parts!

So i went to collect a AEM short arm induction kit and the seller also had a full length tegiwa Alli rad which i snapped off him too, not forgetting to mention it was for a EF and not a teg which most people use.

The radiator came with a fan which i also needed

From the early stage when i did the buy the last owner was in the middle of starting to strip her due to a engine failure. The b20 was also removed by the last owner which didnt bother me anyway as i have plans for bigger and better!

What sort of look you going for? Stripped out?
Bodywork wise the car will be kept stock and clean to perfection. I have all interior which is a win win on a EF as theyr hard/pricey to get hold of so might stick it all back in once its done and ready for some shows. Current plans are to go boost but i already have so much on my plate at the moment..if it happens i hope to get in a bolt-in-cage with the interior.

Liking the progress you're making with this mate, big fan of EFs :nice:
