This is taking it back to the first day when the boys turned up and made it just in time for a picture. literally just before i started to strip her, already had her on axel stands there

Made a start on the nsr which i was dreading! Without even looking at the rears you can just expect them to be caked with underseal and that was defo the case!

Really pleased with how well it cleaned up.
Looks like all the underseal did some work and kept it protected underneath aha

So the plated area is rusty, Im debating whether i should grind it down and underseal again or to have it welded up properly....

Coated the clear area for now untill i decide how far im going to be taking it with the rust
-

Last sunday i made a start on the 4th corner of my EF. After i made a start i remembered to take a picture :pics:
I didnt get much more done than this.
It looks like so little has been done but this was around 3 hours worth of scraping!

That grey dirty patch was where a rear arch liner sat, as you can see there was rust hiding for however long but the times come to put a end to it. I could quiet easily hide this up but with the plans i have for this car now its time for some new metal!!

Some surface rust on the arch lips. I was fully aware of this when i purchased the car and as you all will know this is very minimal for any 28year old UK spec car especially a boxshape!
Its only surface rust which would easily grind/sand back.
Plans are to make it factory new so new arches will be on order next!

The rear end must have been wax oiled by the previous owner which wasnt very pretty to look at but again its sure done a good job and kept it all protected. Thats a pic whilst i was in the middle of taking it off, i will be posting a before and after of this too

This is not mine but a EF9 import i saw this year at the mimms which was restored in 2017. This thing is absolutely amazing in the flesh. I hope to see it again in the future once mine is complete

This is just satisfying to look at! but i plan to make mine perfect too (without the overspray lol)
iv managed to get everything stripped apart from the fuel tank which will be coming off over the weekend, got myself a new subframe and steering rack which can go back on once the polybush kit arrives. Tegiwas Christmas sale defo got me spending those pennies. Pics will be up once the parts start to land.

Picture of the OSR arch which has had some welding done in the past.
I probably could have done a better job myself and no doubt alot of guys out there would consider it as a acceptable job to underseal straight over.
With all honesty it didnt look nowhere near as bad when it was undersealed and because i want all this to be painted the car will be let down so im definitly going down the wedling route and having this fabricated properly!

As you already know the current rears have some surface rust which i considered to sand down but then couldnt justify trying to hide it and have to do this a few years later, so WELCOME the new replacement arches!

Screenshot_20190103-194353.png

Current sills also have some spots of rust where bare metal has been exposed under the old skirts.
The only way to get make it immaculate is by replacing the old metal so I ordered new sills too.
