hey guys,

I know there has been a few questions and threads about the infamous, facelift Honda civic vi-rs ferio.

I have a few questions that maybe some of the Vi-RS fanatics/owners/enthusiasts or general Honda heads could answer for me.

first particular question I have is, does the Vi-RS come fitted with the same brake setup as a JDM EK4 SiR? I know it has disk brakes all around, but are the fronts 262mm and use the same calipers (in which case brake pad would be the same as) an EK4 SiR? and also same setup as SiR in the rear too?

i want one, anyone know what a fresh import would be going for?

seen a couple in ireland but dont look clean enough

you would need around 6k euro in your pocket to bag yourself a good example in japan

be cheaper in the UK maybe around 4500 pounds

^^^ Lee I can't stand your avatar mate lol

Its not safe for work haha change it..

Would love a ferio as a daily. Good looking rare cars

wow fair bit of money that. ill see how it pans out.

i may end up with a uk vti or just a 1.5vtec-e

Yes. I have ants in my pants at the moment. I am awaiting transport company to bring my new addition a black 2000 honda civic vi rs up to my town from down the line, and is yet to arrive just yet. I live in New Zealand, so they're not as rare, but still very rare if you know what I mean. I got mine for a steal compared to what people are selling theirs for, but has done high mileage, but should be all good, rare being manual and in black as well, first and only black Vi RS I've seen. Heaps of silver ones, and a few purple ones around as well, but yet to see a black one. Hopefully here in the next few days, will clean it up and post some pics in the new sedan thread!

Thanks for the info guys

Yes a lot of money but worth it all day long :))

I like the VI-RS but no idea why it sells for so much money.
Most people are gonna change the engine and the body kit is easily put on any other Ferio.
I don't see anything exclusive about it.

It's not like an EK9 which is not easily replicated.

Yea but its like why make a replica of a ek9 and spend all the money when you can buy a proper thing?

Genuine Vi RS is rare then any honda on these forums or anywhere in uk

Where will you see a genuine one?

The car it self is rare but it doesn't have anything exclusive about it self.
It's just a Ferio from factory with all extras.
They're lovely cars but the high price for me is not necessary.

An EK9 is it's own car. Seam welded and thicker chassis is not something that's easily replicated. Also the lightened glass among other thing make it a unique civic.

I have had uk and imports and I can honestly say its a massive difference between the both

The handeling is impressive on the vi RS, as stated in the above link

Double wishbone suspension, stiffer suspension etc

don't get me wrong ek9 are amazing cars and in handeling but not much of a difference compare to a 4 door ferio, and that's coming from someone that's had loads of cars and driven diffrent ones

my old ferio I can honestly say handled crazy and around corners was amazing, the new one one will be even better :))

I have to agree here, as alot of ppl who sat in me car said the same thing. Handling is brilliant on the vi-rs. The handling is tight with minimal body roll.

Im actually quite drawn to the fact it has 3 stage vtec.

I have a dc5 for track action.

it basically an EK4 sedan without the motor. which is a bit of a let down.
has ek4 disk brakes all around (which are bigger than the base model civic ferios), and also has swaybars front and rear from an EK4 as well which improves handling. the suspension also is different slightly better as is using same as ek4 as well, not base model shocks/springs..

well I finally got mine off the truck. its a mess (guess thats what you expect when purchasing unseen), but hey, more to love I guess. Body needs a tidy up, needs full service etc, and will need a few suspension bits and pieces as there are some weird knocking noises etc.

in terms of brakes/hubs, we confirmed that they are using same as EK4.
is there any difference in the EK4 and base model EK parts like ball joints etc? if so, do we use the regular chassis number for look up (which will be base model EK) or do we look up EK4 stuff for things like front lower ball joints etc?

Agree with you, they are rare, but theres nothing really special about them, not like the EK9.

I'd say an Integra xsi is just as rare, and more exclusive. The Vi RS is at the end of the day just another ek shaped civic.
Don't get me wrong, still a lovely car, and cool to have as they are not as common, but for the money, you're not getting much more of a car than a UK vti.

I believe ball joints though should all be the same.
I can't understand why they didn't equip the vi-rs with a b-series motor.
I suppose then it's just a SIR.
I've only ever seen one genuine jdm SIR facelift Ferio.

Vi RS are Absolutely stunning cars, and as rare as an ek9 may be, this will 100x rarer! :)
