Colby's EK9

What's up with your engine mounts mate? You just after some replacement standard ones or you looking for aftermarket set?

aftermarket but preferably not super stiff ones as the cars going to be used daily and the interior shaking itself to bits would get on my nerves lol.

You got a set I take it?

Ha no worries mate, I've got a standard set in the shed. They are used but in pretty goodnick!

@avidjames yes mate, that sounds like me lol :p
I think i've seen you around a few times depending on which one it is!... is yours the one with the fresh gold enkeis? Or theres another clean white one i saw in eastcote a while back with the jdm standard multispokes?

@ColbyCol
Awesome, mine is the one with the gold Enkei NT03's fitted! :) If I spot you in the EK9 I will give you a wave!

Don't think there are too many EK/DC's around our way, only seen one EK9 and one other DC2 :(

@avidjames ahh new it had to be one of the two... As you say not many about. yeah Do you do any of the localish meets at ace or beaconsfield? I'll drop you message next time we go if you like, would be nice to see the DC2 and say hello :)

@ColbyCol That would be awesome mate, I'll messsage you my number as I don't alway remember to check my PM's! :) I haven't been to any local meets in a while, just the big shows!

Just get oem and fill them with tiger seal, cheap and the same as those rip off aftermarket ones.

Yeah I've spoken to a few people and I think im going to leave the uprated ones for the time being... Going to try a set of torque mounts first because they look pretty knackered, the engine mounts themselves don't look too bad really. 60 quid from Tegiwa for a pair so not too bad :)

Gave the engine bay a bit of a clean earlier today, didn't get round as much of the gearbox and block as I'd wanted to because of the rain but the rest didn't come up too badly...

Will be getting the rocker painted as soon as I get the time and I want to get the EDFC wired in at some point too.
Also just out of interest does anyone know a front strut brace that will work with the EDFC top mounts?

I bet you the torque/rear mounts will be in two pieces. The others will be fine.

You're bang on the money there mate! I had a look the other day and like you say all 3 engine mounts seem to be in good condition but both lower torque mounts have split.

Tempted to try the tiger seal fix on them but may just opt for a new set from Tegiwa... still undecided.

Get new and fill with tiger seal, don't tiger seal old brittle mounts.

Reading the rules I probably need to move this into a build thread... mods please advise if you see this!

Little bit of an update... gave my interior a good clean with the hoover, really need to take the seats out and get the shampoo involved but will probably be a job best left for a sunny day in the summer

Also need to find some time to take the dash apart to fix my heater vent... from what I've been told its not a quick job.

Carbon plug cover fitted too... not the greatest fit but for the money I paid it looks smart enough.

Also spoken to Paul from Spooner restorations and he has got me on the list for a refurbed rocker cover so with any luck I might just get that sorted before JF :)

Quick Monday update,

Gave it a good wash and polish over the weekend, did plan on getting the wax out but the sky started looking a bit moody so I bottled it! Might take a half day to try and get it done before Japfest but at least it looks a bit more respectable now :)

Just dropped her off to get an MOT and then will be going out for my first proper drive tonight when I get out of work... cant wait!!

hey mate you have Any idea how to fix the consle vent i have the same problem and its letting the interior down! Very nice 9 btw!

How do you find the whale intake?
To be honest its been on there since I've had the car so I couldn't give you an honest opinion on it over standard or an AEM but it seems to do the job! makes a great noise in the vtec crossover too...

Cheers fella... I haven't actually got round to fixing mine yet but I've got a spare facia with vents from a guy on here to play around with. They are a bit of a cnut because the whole vent is plastic welded / glued to the facia so its more of an issue getting the replacement one off the old console without cracking it, after that gluing it back in shouldn't be too hard. From what I've heard taking all the lower dash and kick panels off to get the center console out is the longest bit of the job.

Nice purchase! Both cars are quality!

Cheers man, I do miss the little Yaris sometimes... but then I turn the key in the civic and forget all about it lol

Progress update, went for a nice spin down to Sussex yesterday to pick up my new rocker cover from Paul at Spooner Restorations...

All looked reasonably clean under the rocker... might get the cambelt done when I get a free weekend but it doesn't seem too beaten up for the time being.

Really happy with how it looks now, makes such a difference in the bay  Just need to get the corrosion off the block and gearbox + paint up a few brackets / mounts and it will be well on the way.

Can't rate Paul's work and customer service highly enough, within 5 mins of arriving I had a cup of tea in my hand and had a full tour of the prep and spray rooms ...spent 2 hours getting the old one off and the new one fitted because we were nattering away and lost track of the time! Really nice guy and a genuine enthusiast. :nice:

Looks good. I personally prefer the blood red colour of the oem valve covers. Havent seen anyone been able to replicate it yet. It looks like a darker red..

Yeah Paul said its near enough impossible to get an exact match on the OE colour in the wrinkle finish, It might mellow a little bit with time but don't think its too far off :)
