Constant CEL (code zero?) service check connector no voltage

Ok as title...

Will start off by saying I have a 2000 ek4 VTI with a B18c using an apexi ecu.

Problem I have is the CEl is on CONSTANTLY, does not blink even when I try and jump the service check connector and search for a code (which itself is a code zero apparently?). Although it will occasionally flash a few times while driving.

Since the car runs and drives fine I checked every earth (all good) and out of curiosity checked to see if there was voltage going through the service check connector when jumped and there is NOTHING!

So what the hell is my problem? There's clearly a fault in the wiring somewhere if there's no voltage getting to the SCC right?

Also guys noticed fan wasn't cutting in so tested the fan, it works fine when supplied with 12v, went to jump the fan switch on thermostat and fan did not turn on, neither did the relay click (also tested relay works fine)

My guess is faulty engine harness since there's plugs getting no voltage and a code zero being thrown?

Do you have another ecu?

Do you have another ecu?
Unfortunately not, I know the ecu is fine though as saw the last car running without any CEL and only thing that's different is wiring as it was previously in an eg6?
Have tried and tested almost everything haha

Ah ok. So the light has been on aslong as the ecu has?

Yes mate, right from startup the light has been on constantly.
Drives spot on apart from these little issues, getting all the correct temps and readings from the apexi commander so completely stumped

I think it's the wiring harness that is causing the problem for the CEL.

Code 0 is faulty ECU, i had that with my original ECU after the swap.

I'd try another ECU and go from there before you start going through the wiring.

Did yours run fine as well mate?

Personally I'd rather try the loom since car is running fine and I could easily sell it on if that doesn't solve it. I just don't see how the ecu could've got damaged if it is.

I'll update the thread as I go along since I haven't seen much on a code 0.

Also if a harness doesn't sort it, would I be able to plug a stock ecu in even if it's got an immobiliser I should still be able to check for codes correct?
At the moment I'm unable to check codes at all due to a possible short in the circuit hence why I get code 0.

Sorry for the late reply, not on the forum that much these days.

Mines was rich as **** and wouldnt rev past 4k on the code 0. But that was because one of the chips was missing from the ECU IIRC.

I don't think an immobilised ECU will work but any non immobilised one should work! To me it sounds like you have a dodgy ECU rather than another problem, but I'd try seeing if you can borrow another one to try!

@R1PPU No worries man.

This is what confuses me, car runs and idles fine, isn't rich at all really and most code 0's are usually way off on fuelling and have other faults.

Can get my hands on a jdm dc2 ecu so will try that just to be certain, fingers crossed! :nerv:

How'd you get on man?

@R1PPU just tried it, I'm getting codes for once so the apexi must be damaged somehow.
Also only codes I'm getting are 10 Intake air temperature sensor (due to no IAT sensor) and 20 Electrical Load Detector?

Not good news, will have to buy another ecu and get the car re-tuned as can't run it on a stock ecu really due to the cams and high comp etc.

Still unable to get the fan working by jumping the plug though.

Just had a word with a mate, the ELD could be down to dodgy alternator wiring which makes sense, as I had to re pin the plug (was 3 pin but now using a 4 pin plug).

Will try sort it out and report back
