Hi!
I'm looking to buy a EK9.. to get hold of one is for me the easiest part, but then ther's the problem that they only come in right hand drive :( and I want a left hand drive one very bad.

Is there a possibility to convert the EK9 from RHD to LHD without swapping all the parts in an LHD civic??? I would be very greatfull for any info regarding this matter..

Man I would trade you...lol.But no,Your going to need a new dash,firewall...etc.It's really hardcore.

it has been done, there was a user here from Filipines who had this done as over there you have to have LHD cars...

You can do it, the problem is the price, expect to throw out 1000$ at least.

In my country a lot of JDM EVO 3 and Starlet GTs have the conversion, but the job is not professionally done so the car interior looks crappy.

Where do you live?

I live in Europe and I know that it gona cost me do that kinda thing.. The only problem now is to gather info wich parts do I need from a LFH civic and from wich model..

I`ve had the same thought for years now. Basically the mechanical parts need no mods at all. You`ll definetely need a new dashboard parts wise. The fuss is to move all the right side to the left side. Thought i`m not so sure which way will the battery and some other parts that are located differently in the RHD will efect the car`s geometry and if they too will have to be moved. I don`t think that the wipers will bother with their "backwards" movement. But as i see it and what i`ve discussed all the money will go on labour rather tahn new parts. It can definetaly be done as long as you have the cash.

From which civic should I take the LHD dash? And are the seats in the EK9 on bouth sides the same? (can I use the passenger seat as a driver seat?)

EK4/EJ6/9 dashboards i think will do. About the seats as far as i know they`re the same. perhaps you might need to swap rails.

Is LHD a legal requirement for registering a car in your country? I've driven a UK RHD car in Europe quite a bit and it's a piece of cake, even though I expected round town, overtaking etc to be difficult before I tried it.

In my opinion the EK9 should be kept the way it was made, after all it was unique to Japan and therefore only RHD.

Cheers,
Alex

aha, I can't register the car unless it's a LHD :(

Here in the Philippines its no problem to convert it to LHD. There are thousands of cars coming in from japanese 2nd hand market. Its required by law to convert LHD. My 99 EK9 is arriving in a month w/c also will be converted. And it doesnt cost that much either. :)
Its been done many times even on a nissan skyline GTR R34.
