Im looking at the coil on plug setup from AEM.
Is anyone running one? Or have experience with them? Good or Bad?

Coil-On-Plug (COP) Conversion Kit - B-Series Honda Engines

thanks in advance.

Damn, just noticed in this pic this person is running sensors in every pipe on the header, NOS for sure!

Im going to be running a similar set up on the engine for my drag car, only with cbr coils (similar to the aems ones) and a aem cdi ignition box with the aem epm all controlled by a Adaptronic ecu, from what i have seen it seems a good set up if turning the engine to high rpm's or running big boost as you can run a decent plug gap without worrying its going to get blown out.

Four channel afr control is bad ass if your running cop and fully sequential injection as you have full control of individual cylinder trim and ignition. You can do a similar job with four channel egt.

I want to make the change, R-Crew does not want me to. :( I will give it some more thought. Thank you buddy.

Waiting for your feedback !

What kind of setup are you running ? All motor or boost ?

I also looked at the COP conversion but for the price it seems to be not so interesting in my case (B16 with street setup and OEM rev limit).

rywire will be proving the engine harness portion with COP as well as AEM EMS and AQ-1 wiring built-in [full AEM COP]. I made the decision when it was offered up so its a bit last minute change. Retune with it installed in about two weeks.

I am running NA fully built; Hondata is getting me about 218whp. I doubt if I can see more from the B18C5. COP is more for reliability for me.

...all this because the oem harness seems to be cutting out randomly, or its the coil acting up. To many splices/un-splices I think, its actually hard to program hondata as it sometimes will not take the tuners updates, causing more time on the dyno and frustrating the tuner...lol

Anywho--I will update when its all installed. will be going to Dynospot for the tune as I always do. the only dyno Ive ever been on! :)

I sort of wish I had the aem coils as you can use any plugs you want, I have cbr coils and have to use a spark plug with a removable tip like denso Ik27's which are expensive at £40 a set.

AEM, not low cost. :(
but i feel its the right move to make at this time...

Also been looking at AEM COP conversion for my fully built B20. Again I want it purely for reliability as I have had a few dizzy's fail on me now.

Will be following this thread closely to see how you get on and if you have an issues/glitches.

...will be using the RSX/S2000 coils, they are more available.

...dropped the car off... should have it back in about a week.
Going to the track to give it a good test on Sept 22, buttonwillow.

Is EPM susceptible to timing drift?

Shock absorbing elastomer drive system eliminates potential for ignition timing deviation and protects the EPM from vibration

hope I did not change out to many electrical parts at one time :nerv:
hope the tuner is not out sick this week :nerv:
hope the 3/4 tank of race fuel was enough :nerv:

hope to hell i get my damn car back this week! :))

the incorrect under dash harness was shipped with my order...should be in next week...need to reset.

Should have the epm next week so heres the start of my cop ignition.

update: this is NOT a plug and play setup as I was sold it to be. just say'en for those who think this is plug and play. lol

ECM from AEM is the issue...or...rywire...either way.
