Civic EJ6 Coupe 98, Civic EK4 VTI 99
Today I picked up my first VTI. I've been looking for nearly a year for the right one and this popped up 20 minutes from my house. I'm super, super happy. It's a facelift, EK4 VTI in Super Sonic Blue. I bought the car with some modifications such as Tein coilovers, spoon replica full exhaust system (made by M2 Motorsport), had some wide/dished wheels, EK9 grill and an EK9 spoiler which was very titled with Tegiwa brackets. The car has just hit 102,000. It's a very strong engine, no smoke. Has had the cambelt done twice, a stack of history and receipts. As soon as I got it home, I immediately removed the spoiler and fitted my Spoon carbon spoiler. I have also fitted a set of Jordan wheels. The car's off the road until April unfortunately due to insurance problems, which on the plus side, gives me a couple of months to get some bits done before it's on the road.

My plans at the moment are to keep it as genuine as possible, raise it up a bit, import some SSR's and over time - build the engine to a better spec without engine swapping or going too crazy. I want to keep all of the badges on, interior and exterior parts.

So far I have removed the titled EK9 spoiler, removed the wheels and replaced with Jordan wheels and have fitted/added VTEC DOHC stickers on the rear quarters.

Hope you like it! Cheers.

Nice Corey, like I haven't said that on Instagram already :))

Thanks! I absolutely love it. I've been busy getting parts together and have started working on it while it's off the road. Its look 100x better already. Loads of nice, genuine goodies on their way as we speak. It's off to get valve clearances done next weekend by a friend and sounds a little bit tappy which is weird as the engine is super healthy and drives spot on. Took it for a little drive down the road and back (shouldn't have...) and nearly binned it in the wet. So yeah, won't be doing that again - at least until it's on the road.

Just can't wait to get it insured and ready in all her glory for show season! :woot:

Nice vti! The tap tap could also be your LMAs,
Common problem, handy fix .
Love the color mate .

Thanks so much dude, I love it! The colour is stunning, looks so much nicer in real person - it changes between blue and purple in the sun.

What do you mean by LMA's? Haven't heard of that before. Cheers

Thanks. I've never heard of LMA's or looked into this - by a quick search online, it could be the noise that I am trying to diagnose. I'll get the valve clearances checked next weekend first. Anything to look out for (LMA's) whilst we're doing it?

:))

Get valve clearance done first and use right grade and quality oil, makes big difference.
Generally hondas are noisy and the cold winters dont do them any favours, i dont know much about LMA's, i just get everything done by my mechanic.
Someone else can hopefully advice you,
all the best.

Thanks guys, that's really helpful. I'll have a research tonight. I'll get the clearances done first and give it a oil change.

I've just bought Motul 8100 5w40 fully synthetic oil and a hamp filter. What oil are you running?

Sounds ideal, im running shell helix 5w40 fully synthetic with genuine honda filter.
Many people run 10w40, its down to preference and whatever works best for you.

5w30 valvaline fully synthetic and hamp little lad , I found it good and only 27 euro , was using motul 10w40 and found it burned off.

Cool, I'll change the oil and short hamp and get the clearances done and hopefully it sorts the tapping out :))

Update 1

First lot of goodies have arrived, most from Tegiwa Imports - genuine parts :)) I haven't fitted any yet but will be this weekend! I gave the rocker cover a quick re-paint, used halfords VHT satin black paint (turn out rubbish and pulled off some paint when I removed the 'paint safe' tape when I was shaving the raised letters off :angry2:). I've also given the A/C and radiator stay and quick shave and paint and they were so disgustingly rusty. Have got a new PW:JDM rad stay anyway now.

Skunk2 Battery Tie Down
Skunk2 Oil Cap
Skunk2 VTEC Solenoid Cover
Skunk2 Spark Plug Cover (rep? - eBay )

Honda OEM Jazz Mist Washer Jets
Honda OEM Rear Light Seals
Motul 8100 5W40 Oil - Fully Synthetic

I've also got some new wheels that are currently being refurbished! Can't wait to get them on with some decent tyres and get the car set up and sitting properly

I'm going to sell the Tegiwa tilt spoiler brackets, re-fit the OEM EK9 spoiler and sell off the spoon (rep).

Yesterday I finally finished stripping my old civic and took it to the scrapyard. I literally stripped everything from this and sold a lot of it which funded the new car. Such a shame, survived 2 collisions and never missed a beat in the 45,000 miles I drove it over 2 years. Pretty sad to be honest, I've learnt everything with this car but onwards and upwards with the new VTI!

Decided to paint my old genuine EK9 grill yesterday as the one that came on the VTI was a rep and really didn't like how the plastic mesh was also painted. I've re-painted the grill mesh black as it had a few stone chips. Excited to get the grill finished off next weekend and fitted to the car! (along with all the new parts I have).

I have also now started to refurbish the new wheels for the car and hopefully they'll be sent off in the next couple of weeks for paint :))

Skunk2 oil cap turned up yesterday, it's really smart! Also my Honda aerial blank plate arrived. I can't wait till next weekend to fit all of the above list of engine and interior parts. New wheels are being painted as we speak. Super excited.

Cleaned up my Yuasa battery from my old civic, will replace the halfords one that came with the car which will go into my freinds EG6 VTI.

Finished painting and assembled my old EK9 grill yesterday to replace the rep that came on the car (its only exterior mod apart from EK9 spoiler and brackets which are now replaced with my carbon Spoon wing.

Does anyone know what mani this is? I've been given it so I have started to polish it up and might fit it. From my research, it looks like it's made by Super Street Performance?
