Crail: 300bhp astra vs ek9

Racing in straight lines is mega fun...............

........ in anything over 800 hp.

Dont want to start an argument here or offend anyone but i'll say it anyway......

Why is it when theres drag racing mentioned all the track nuts come on and try to downgrade its appeal or try and make it sound crap, for the people who enjoy it I hope they never get disheartened by the comments that get thrown around because I have always enjoyed drag racing.

Now i've never tracked a car and I know I will at one point and I know I will enjoy it but the problem is i'm not to eager to risk (not that I drive anything decent at the moment) all that money on a track where anything could happen.

When on a track day, not everyone is pushing their cars to its full potential or ability but at a drag strip you know the driver is pushing the car to as much as his ability lets him.

Im sorry what? Crail is pish because

1. The timing gear is all over the shop
2. The surface is undeniably crap

So what if its the only QM we have? Does that mean its automatically good?

Did i say it was automaticly good? No
All i said was its the only one north of the border so why not make the most off it, unless you like travelling 7/8 hours to Pod to pay your 15 quid and get 3 runs.
The surface is crap but its better than racing your mates at the traffic lights, and every time im there the timing works all day, or you just annoyed because you got a **** time?:p

Yep driving in a straight line is boring, for the people who have never tried it or are just pish at it.
Ive tracked my car plenty times, and i really enjoy it, doesnt stop me enjoying both disiplines.

You said it wasnt pish? But yet you admit that the surface is crap, since a drag strip is based on a launch and then 1/4 mile run, the fact that the actual surface you drive on is pish is a major factor.

The fact it is the only one in Scotland has absolutely no relevance to its quality as a drag strip. And no, as you have repeated I wont be driving to pod.

Iv been to crail probably ten times in my 5 years of driving, did a 14.9 in my B16A2 Jordan and then 14.3 when it had B18C, I dont mean the timing gear stopping working but it gives out bizarre times and sometimes switches the lanes haha, its fun to go up and race people, doesnt mean the actual equipment isnt crap yo.

I didnt? I asked you why its pish? The surface will never be the best, it was laid over 70 years ago:lol: I know it isnt great, i just see it as a challenge:))
Your correct that drag racing is nearly all about the launch, thats if your going there to chase times. Some people just go there to race mates.

The timing gear yeah ive seen it give out bizzare times and switched lanes, but thats all down to the person controling it, not the gear itself.

Anyhow i think weve wandered off topic abit..........
