DC2 has landed in the UK!

Yes! Very nice, Sometimes I think the few days when the car arrived/visited to view etc... was the most exciting part of ownership and of course the first drive on UK roads.

Hope your not disappointed with it, I wasn't with mine! Get undersealed ASAP and keep the fresh import DC2's fresh as there is a lot of scrap about these days.

Cheers mate, I'm sure it will be ace! :)) Torque are under-sealing it before I pick it up, but I'm still going to double check and fill up the known gaps in the bodywork which let water into the rear arches. :) So first job is to remove the rear seats to inspect the arches.:nerv:

If i'm not out of line asking..

How much did you pay or are expected to pay to have it on the road?

Nah not at all, but it is well…a lot. :nerv: All in all it's £7000. Once you subtract £1000 for the shipping and import taxes the extra £6000 with the car included in the price comes with;

Registration
Tax
MOT
Speedo Conversion & de-limited
Undersealed
CAT 1 alarm (£300 optional)

Being a 98 Spec and on 65,000 miles I did pay a little bit more than what a 96 Spec would have cost. But it's what I wanted and was willing to spend that bit extra for a clean fresh import. :)

Nah 7k for a car of that calibre, mileage and cleanliness isn't a lot of money. It's about bang on. I'm thinking of getting a DC2 next year is all and I've seen a few... err...... not quite dogs, but puppies for around 3.5-4.5k. So the extra 2k for a clean example aint too bad.

Thanks for the info :nice:

My thoughts exactly. :) I looked around for a nice clean example for a bit but gave up and decided to splash out and import one for myself. :p

Although in the time since winning the car a couple of nice examples with similar mileage etc have turned up for sale, like you say about £2k cheaper than what I paid for mine, but I don't regret spending the extra at all. :D

Hey man at least you know where it's been driven and can expect (to a certain extent) what the underside + arches of the car are going to be like. UK cars tend to sorta go everywhere lol. Rust... Rust everywhere.

Well she passed the MOT today!!:drive: One tyre does need changing but other than that it's all good.

The steering wheel needs to be re-trimmed and the suspension needs a look at as it is knocking a bit at slow speeds and full lock.

Got some better pictures from Torque today as well:

Very nice, engine bay is spotless!

And I understand your point about some nice examples appearing during the import process.

So after the bank holidays passed and the DVLA got round to sorting out my registration I finally got over to Torque GT last Saturday to pick her up! :woot:

A massive thank you goes out to Liam (Barry on Civiclife) for driving me all the way down to devon, saved me a lot of time and money, LEGEND!! :nice: Also went down with another mate who managed to get a few rolling shots, just waiting for Liam to sort through and give them an edit and I'll post them up. :))

Onto the car, well mechanically, she is faultless! You've all heard the usually stories "such an amazing car" :blabla::blabla: So I wont bore you with that, other than to say another happy owner!

I'll be at Japfest on Saturday on the ek9 stand, so look forward to meeting a few of you. :)

There are a couple of little things that I need to sort out with the bodywork which is good as it gives me something to do on the car. :) I haven't got many pictures just yet but took a couple after I cleaned it for the first time:

When we got to Torque and picked the car up one of the first things we noticed were the uprated brake pads and discs from Endless:

They are amazing along with the braided lines which were also installed in Japan. However they are not so nice on white wheel. This is after about 300 miles:

I have a set of Rota slips as a second set until I find my perfect wheels, but this is after just 30 miles the other day!! :nerv:

So yeah, they are going to be a right pain to keep clean!

Onto the body work, it's mainly just the front bumper that needs sorting out. Whoever owned this car in Japan clearly looked after it with regards to the mechanical side of things, just a shame they never did the same with the bodywork. Horrible touch up!!

Hairline cracks in the paint next to the wheel:

The bumper also need to be refitted properly, hoping its just a couple of broken clips:

The front lip is also scuffed, so the plans are to get both resprayed ASAP. Front lip, with some more naff touch up paint applied:

The other major thing is the rear tint has started to degrade with what I think maybe due to the sun. This is the view I have out the back, and no the glass is not wet:

Booked in for a re-tint in a couple of weeks, also the tear at the top:

Also need to replace my window stickers:

My 98 spec wheel are going in for a refurb with Spooner next week, this is the worst of the damage:

The tyres fitted to these wheel are also quite rare I believe. I'm pretty sure these are no longer made?

Proper random accelerator pedal, anyone know this make?

Already fitted my Recaro cushions, originally was going to swap my black seats for red but now I've seen them they are spotless! Opinions, I think the colour looks okay on black seats:

The last weird thing on mine is the plaque. My car should have one saying "98 Spec R". For some reason I have No. 223 even though my car is #189. So if anybody has a 96' Spec DC2 with the chassis number 232 and is missing a plaque give me a shout and I'll send it your way!:nice:

looking very well, the bodywork issues are very minor and not bad at all considering the age of the car and the fact it has travelled halfway across the world to get to the UK :)

Good ol' Mike @ Torque GT.

Are you sure the caliper isn't sticking? That seems like a massive amount of brake dust.
