EG6 pure track toy joy!

by the looks of the pics this is some serious money being spent here, good to see it isnt just usual rubbish timing belts etc etc but good decent gates ones :) keep up the good work dude

Thanks lads. I won't go cheap when building a car. I'll happily go second hand though :D

Sorry about the lack of updates, I've been very lazy. I was suppose to be working on the car last weekend but decided to take a girl out on a date which turned out to be a massive waste of time! Should have known better haha!

Anyways, got a week off to work solid on this mid August so stay tuned ;)

Managed to get some work done today, very happy with the results!

Removed the sunroof...

Next I decided it was time to get my seat in...

Bought a home made subframe off here, natuarally the holes didn't line up and one of the brackets was over an 1" out so I had to cut a re-weld that, no problem though :)

Job done!

Yeh man shifter extension will be on route shortly, obviously I've got a short shifter shown earlier in the thread. That will all get fitted up middle of next month.

Haha, I'd love to say it's an easy job but it's not - it's ****! I mean the end result is really nice, even though it's not perfect but it took a lot of graft scrubbing out every last bit of sound deadning and the residue, cleaning up everything, then painting....UGH :angry2:

Glad it's done that's all I can say :))

Linky for the steering wheel

thankyou have just bought it :drive: , and yeah i know its so easy to stripp , but is it really that hard to take out the sound deadening :angry2: , hmmm i think i will end up doing it as looks so dam good at the end :bow: wouldnt know what colour to do it , was thinking a shiny gunmetal grey ? or not copying you but the same colour as you as my engine bay is allready that colour :D

anyways great job buddy

Its just physical hard work, takes time that's all. Everything needs to be spotless before you paint it so it takes a good while!

On one of my old cars I built I did it in a gunmetal, looked really good. I like the white though so go for it! :D

No I didn't but it was pretty well keyed from getting the sound deadening out. I used a zinc etch primer also so should adhere pretty well

Right so I've been working on the car all week. Been getting pics when I remember!

Mainly been stripping parts off so far, waiting for other parts to arrive etc.

So here some of the things Ive been up to...

Got the sump off, cleaned it up and welded in the baffle plates;

Also started pulling the head apart to get the valve stem seals done, the cams were in pretty bad shape, a lot of wear on the lobes and caps. So I decided not to bother. With the mileage on this engine (160,000!) Ive decided to find a lower mileage unit or save up towards a B18 ;)

So ended up putting it all back together! But I had already fitted this new water pump and cambelt kit couldn't be bothered to take it all off, the motor still runs good. Just a heavy smoker on VTEC!

All back together with posh leads;

So that's the engine work all done.

Just waiting for bushes to turn up and caliper rebuild kits so I can start rebuilding all the foot work. Got a lot of parts down the powder coaters that I'm picking up in the morning :)
