decided to restore the eg9 while im not using it as a daily driver, im about half way there atm and finally getting around to making a build thread .

ben wanting to get it sprayed for a few years now as it badly needs it, so said id go all the way with it.

Originally gave a timeline of 1month to have it ready to go for paint , but havent had the time to work on it as much as id hoped.

wiped out the engine and stripped down the bay,Going to spray the engine bay myself and put the car back together before sending it off for an outer respray.

getting started

engine out

Started to clean down the block, not sure if i will paint it or just give it a good clean. think i will just clean it up and maybe add some laquor?

removed every suspension component etc from under the car

Even though they are mad money , i decided to replace all the trim on the car with new oem bits. so removed all the old stuff

recently enough i rebuilt and sprayed the gearbox, but wasnt happy with the look so stripped the paint back again and going to go with the clean/polished look.

Box just out

stripping paint

dont have many pics of polishing up the box, but a lot of hours were done on this :thud: looks way better in person

as all the bolts on the car were in great condition and the mad money honda charge i decided to get all the original bolts zinc coated. I bagged up and labelled each area, however the place i got them done with had to mix them all so its gona be hard to segregate them again

Bolts back

Sent all the suspension parts off to get sandblasted and powder coated. Very happy with the result

Refitted bushes to some of the arms, and fitted new balljoints to the front hubs

Prepping the engine bay is taking longer than i expected. dont want to rush it as i want the finish to be perfect.

the only bits of surface rust were on the front panel, so after degreasing the whole bay several times, i brought most of the front panel back to bare metal, treated it and sprayed it in red oxide primer

just need to sand down the rest of the bay , get the spray gun set up and i can put a few coats of primer on it . I have the paint and primer there already

stripped down all 4 calipers too, and will be rebuilding them all with new parts. got the calipers powder coated along with the suspension arms
Ordered new pistons, new seals and new bleed nipples. just waiting to get some red rubber grease before rebuilding them properly

Some oem trim, and mechanical parts arrived today, hopefully get the front hubs reassembled tomorow .

new front and rear window trims, cowl corner covers , front caliper splash guards , steering rack seal

old v new splash guards

jazz washer jets

flywheel cover

new driveshafts

new wheel bearings, motul oil, hamp filter, inner and outer tie rod ends, front and back caliper pistons

Also picked up a new personal wheel, yellowspeed coilovers , coilover socks and an oem blank key from tegiwa

spoon gearknob

projuct mu wheel nuts

got the wheels refurbed and fitted with 2 r1r's and 2 ns2r's

and went for yellowstuff pads all round

Last summer i dropped the petrol tank and everything under the car , got rid of any surface rust and undersealed the whole car. also brough the boot back to bare metal and resprayed it, got new clips/plugs from honda , cleaned and refitted all the boot trim. unfortunately i have lost all these pictures :farao:

Serious bit of work, looking forward to seeing future updates. keep it up :D

Class project! You are going about it the right way!

awesome work so far, wish i'd though about getting the bolts zinc coated. i paid out a small fortune for new bolts! :-( personally i wouldn't use ebc pads as i've had bad experience with them.

Im loving every single bit of what you're
Doing ....
Very dedicated restoration

thanks lads.

did a small bit tonight , cleaned up the steering rack, changed inner and outer tie and track rod ends and changed the bushings for poly ones

was pretty dirty

cleaned up fairly well

new tie rod , track rod fitted and boot refitted

not a great pic for the other side

changed the bushings and refitted the pipes after cleaning them

sealed up the gearbox too and fitted new seals

where did you get the bolts replated?

Thanks lads .

I got the bolts done in galvotech in Shannon. Got 159 done in total (pretty much every bolt bar the small engine bay ones which I'm sickened I didn't get done aswel now ) really happy with how they turned out .

They Charged 120e for the lot so definately cheaper than buying all new bolts. They have a minimum charge of 75e so best off getting a lot done at once if your thinking of getting some done .

Looking good man, I'd always wondered where this eg9 went because of the front splitter. Best lip for an eg9 I think.
