why doesnt a cage fit with a sunroof or does it?bought a safety devices half cage for my jordan jw do i need to remove sunroof to fit cage?

There are two types of cages - for cars with and without sunroofs... The sunroof version is lower while the non sunroof version runs closer to the roof...

true mate, ill get something sorted with it,dnt think id want to cut or weld at it since its just had a full respray but ill sort something

There is a guy on civiclife iirc who makes plastic sunroof blanks for when you remove the sunroof. It fits into the original gap for the sunroof and prob just needs bonded in

The whole sunroof and mechanism weighs around 30kg, get it out!!

For safety you want the cage to run as close to roof as you can so definitely get rid of the sunroof rail. Not hard at all to take out, it's just up the hole whilst keeping it looking nice is the challenge. I had my entire roof vinyl wrapped, which is a good option to go for as believe me it can be a pain keeping water out with just sealant.

there will be no vinyl touching my car lol its not a trackcar, the plastic blank sounds like my kinda thing ill have to have a look

cant seem to find the guy your on about mate,im dont want to drill into a jordan, esp when its just been sprayed lol

when I ordered my wiechers cage I had to specify if I had a sunroof or not. The cage for the sunroof versions is a little lower.

How come you are fitting a cage if its not going near the track? Seems like hassle and money for nothing

+1
Lots of hard stuff to knock your head against if you have a crash also. I assume you're not going to spend your time driving it around with a helmet on.

can someone here maybe help me aswell before i start a new thread ? i want to de-sunroof my civic but dont know how to do it

i was looking at the sunroof plugs but they rivet in from the roof so it will be visible (which i dont want) and will flex when driving so it will crack the paint

also was looking to replace the hole roof skin but cant find any anywhere... anyone got any ideas ?

You can buy carbon bungs from It's all about POWER to WEIGHT ratio these mount from the inside so look alot better... pricey tho!

we always use a metal one you ca buy them from the civic cup site, if you fitting a cage its going to be used properly and Id rather have a steel skin over my head than a fiber material type one, we have fitted over 25 steel sunroof bung kits now and they are quite simple and very nice when done properly, cost is about £50 for the kit and an hour of your time

if the cage is fitted correctly and tied in it wont crack the paint either as it wont flex, and I can show you 4 cars with bolt in cages that use them in the ciivc cup that have never cracked the paint

Hope that helps
