Mivec is even slower than SIR II and was supposingly created to compete the EK9 :lol: :lol: There is no competition for Dohc Vtec engines. They belong to a different level in their category. They compete each other. Nowadays, 10 years after, 1600 cc turbo cars are produced and they cannot exceed 160 -170 horses. Am I right? Repeat once again: EK9 makes small miracles!!!! That's all folks

you guys are getting confused..

60mph=96.5kmph
62mph=100kmph

i don't trust that official Honda UK website.. Even though EP3 and FM2 has a K20A, they still have to deal with the increase weight. Also there are 2 versions of EK9. 1 is normal and other is 98 spec R. 98 spec R has no Air con and speakers etc. This brings the weight down to 1050kg. The normal EK9 is 1090kg and some are 1080kg. If you want, just strip out you car and you will feel a difference... I took out my passenger seat and that a difference was felt. B16B's lack of torque is greatly appreciated with reduce weight... even 20kgs make a difference in acceleration... but with the K20A is different because it has 90% max torque from around 3000rpm and max torque at 5600rpm. B16B is max torque @ 7500rpm stock.

I've also started another thread about this about gear ratios.. does the stock EK9 need a 3rd gear to go past 100kmph? This might be the cause...

I know mine doesn't...

I know of an ex-EK9 owner (now an Elise owner) who managed 5.9sec for 0-60MPH as well as 14.9sec 1/4 mile at Santa Pod. That was stock too, no mods. As well as spec (his was standard and not stripped out), it depends on driver skill too and conditions of the day.

As far as fastest 1600cc moniker goes, sorry think that has to go to the Pulsar VZ-R N1 from Nissan.

Woah, yeah I heard about that engine... 200ps 1.6L. But Spoon's Block brace brings the stock B16B to 200hp @ 10000rpm, Rev limit 11,000rpm

also i have a couple of jap mags that shows those B16B's tuned to produce 220ps without having to bore it out to 1.8

:shocked: can you post some info about how to do this? :shocked:

Sure.. you EK9 owners gotta get those CIVIC Hyper Rev mags.. They show everything about all models especially Type R. I've got 2 issues already and waiting for the 3rd one..

No. 2,3,4 pretty much covers everything from EG6 to EP3.

i'll post a new thread when I got time. :D

just get stroker kit makes it 200hp and 1.8 :D
Why when it can still be done as a 1.6?

jugbugz - yup, I have the hyper rev books too. Great source of information and parts especially for the EK9.

damn, I thought I saw 220ps on a 1.6L but it was stroked... :angry2:

But, I've still got 1 issue coming in, which is the lastest one... Lets see if anyone has broken the 200ps mark with 1.6L

I've got a page where SPOON made 200ps but with a massive 20kg's of torque with 1.6L!!! That's 200Nm(20kg) from 163Nm(16.3kg) stock!!! That would be soooooo good!!! K20A torque figures on a 1.6L!!

i managed a 5.36 0-100kmph in my EK9 with air con in place and a sound system in it :nice:

it's 177bhp with a 4.9 final drive, I'll have quarter mile times sunday week :nerv:
