I've been having this problem on an off for a couple of months. Car started and ran fine, but had the eml light on, pulled the codes and comes back with cyp sensor. So.. I've removed the distributor and took it to bits and there's a a tear drop like peice of metal that goes onto the shaft with a flat side to make sure it's in position, which is obiously for a sensor. What I want to know is this the cyp sensor and how is the peice of metal locked to the shaft? Mine has had no form of locking it to the shaft other than the flat edge which is now not so flat with allowing it to slap about I'm guessing. So I've knocked in a roll pin and fired it back together and set distributor timing (checking again today). No eml light:))
drive it down the road and it comes back on. Now when I start it, it still runs fine but the light only comes on when I allow revs to drop to idle.
Just want opinions on what I should do?
I think a new distributor is in order but I'm being a tight f*cker haha

Ye just order a distributor lol cut all the headache, I had the same issue a few months ago .
