Hi all, anybody knows if ek9 dampers would be a straight swap onto ek4?

want to upgrade handling for daily use as i already hve fitted Spoon progressive springs (20mmdrop) as want to make the most out of them...

Would i hve to upgrade to ctr sway bars too?:thanks:

Yes is a straight swap, i would recommend you to install the sway bars first, thats very important!

Hi tx for ya tip...

i read "http://www.ek9.org/forum/showthread.php?t=31" b4 posting this thread, however i would apreciate it loads if u could simplify info a bit regarding my ek4.

As iam aware it can alter the handling loads depending on wot set-up u go for. Do ctr sway bars differ lots on stock ek4??
:thanks:

i have fitted ek9 suspension onto my ek4 (straight swap), DO NOT fit rear ek9arb onto ek4 without fitting chassis strenghning brace like ASR, the ek9 rear crossmember is much stronger/thicker than ek4 to cope with thicker ek9 arb

still trying to get hold of decent ek9 dampers for my ek4...wot do u mean by ek9arb?

hve u fitted the sway bars too?:thanks:

i used to have ek9 arb until it ripped my subframe so currently getting ek9 subframe fitted and then putting ek9 arb back on, ek9 arb reduces roll in rear noticeably over ek4 arb

Why would you switch out subframes (doesnt that involve welding?) when you could just buy an ASR subframe reinforcement brace. This works as a tie bar and as a brace for the anti roll bar. Plus it looks blingin$.
Here's mine, its an easy install.

I have yet to get any swaybars (usdm hatches dont have roll bars), I want to get used to my new coilovers first.

that looks good..:nice:

ive jst fitted Spoon lower arm bar which mks rear more rigid. however my new addition looks cheap compared to subframe brace!!!

might jst uprate the front sway bars instead. leaving the stock ek4 on the rear. would this b fine?

:thanks:

I dont know what size your rear bar is, its probably a 13 or 14mm. I also dont know what your front one is, i'm guessing a 22mm. You could bump up your front to a 26mm ek9 bar and keep the same rear bar, but why? That would only promote understeer. If you want your car to handle more neutral you should keep the same front bar and only upgrade the rear to an integra type r or CTR bar. Some people even dissconnect the front bar and just add a 23mm rear bar, but thats an autocross application and when using a very thick rear bar on the street you have to be more careful in the rain, on turns.
So, just a general guideline- thicker front ARB, more understeer, thicker rear ARB, more oversteer.

i know i could have just got asr brace but buying ek9 subframe and welding will cost me about same so may as well do that, i dont care about looks underneath car, there is other main reason for doing this but long story

I'm just now doing suspension, brakes conversion!
