Hi there, i found a few interresting used modded ECU's for mine.
now im not sure if any EK9 ECU will fit into my late 2000 Facelift EK9 or if there are different versions.

1) Are there different EK9 ECU versions?
2) Do they fit plug and play and everything works?
3) are there some problems when exchanging the ECU? (for example like door lock with remote control doesn't work anymore?)

Thanks for your help and advice

97/98 Ek9 - OBD2A
99/00 Ek9 - OBD2B

therefore a ecu from a facelift wont fint a pre facelift and vise versa (the plugs are totally different you would need a conversion harness to fit one)

as long as they are JDM ecu's you should be fine as they arent immobilized so it should start and the remote should open the door.

ok thanks. is there a way i can see which one would fit mine? according to a manufacturer, or serial number or something? or just by the plug desing?

ah ok, found a picture comparison here:
p2t usdm(obd2b/top) vs jdm(obd2a/bottom) | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

and a list of ECU's and how to identify here:

more information found here:

Hmm will be difficult to find a right one i believe because none of them for sale have mor information than "B16b" ECU.. humm.. :S
EDIT: Most of them also come with the eco model, say P30 (just for example).

are these models unique, say a P30 is for OBD2B and a P28 is for a OBD2A or are there different versions within same model number?

Otherwise i think easiest way would be just to chech my OEM ECU Model type and look for a similar type. am i wrong or right?

I was under the impression that the p28/p30 were for OBD1. I could be wrong tho.

The code for ek9 ecu' are PCT.

Are u looking for an ecu with a generic map already installed or something you can tune yourself? Obd2 is known for being a "bitch" to tune you are limited to things like afc's, Greddy E-Manage etc.

Yeah the P30 etc was just for explenation i know this is wrong type :)
i think PCT is right, but both for the OBD2A and OBD2B Versions?

Im found a few ECU's tuned by MINES, JUN, etc.. coming from a JDM EK9.
I don't want to tune my ECU and i know this is not the best solution but i like it :) it's cheap and simple and in any case better then my now modified-for-swiss-exhaust-emission-stuff-and-really-bad ECU. in this case i have my OEM ECU modified for the MOT and a second ECU with a slightly tuned map for daily use..

Just to have it confirmed:
If it hase the same connector and is from the same car and out of japan it'll work fine?

So basically i just have to look for an EK9 ECU with same connector, right?
