Ok i know there is countless threads for upgrading ek9 front brakes to accord type R 300mm setup but of coarse i have to complicate it.

I basically want to use the oem ek9 calliper with a 300mm disc under 15" Team dynamics pro race 1.2 wheels. I already have 2 sets of ek9 callipers and i have accord type R carriers so i cant justify buying atr callipers when i have all the bits already.

Has anyone used this set up?
I know the pro race 1.2 will clear a complete atr brake setup but i want to know if they will clear the ek9 callipers on the 300mm setup.

Any help would be appreciated to save me hours of trial and error :D

I have ep3 callipers with 300mm discs and don't fit with pro race 1.2, to fit you must to thin the carriers

I didnt think the TD 1.2 cleared the ATR brake setup only the TD pro 1 alloys did. would there be much difference using the ek9 caliper on a 300mm rotor?

Guy in another thread had pics of that setup with pro race 1.2's but he was using 5mm spacers if I remember correctly. You are right about the pro race 1, they do have better brake clearance.

nice to know as i have the ATR setup and having a 15" wheel option would be nice.

I have nsx twin pot calipers that run on 282 disc. They are twin piston same as the atr but the carrier and calipers are smaller in size. I'm positive the Pistons are the same size. Had atr twin pots in prior to these with 300mm disc and 16 inch slips.

Both the above set ups work better than the standard calipers imo. No difference in performance between nsx and atr. I don't use them on track but run big boost and they do well on the road.

I'd sell either set up if your interested.

Interesting.. pm me price on both setups, those nsx callipers could tempt me if this 300mm ek9 combo doesn't work out :nice:

Did you notice a big difference from ek9 setup?
What pads are you using?

Have to say I've been very impressed. Alot more braking force can be applied before the abs kicks in. Haven't had a chance to really push them fully, but do plan on hitting the track in a few months, so should really see the improvements then as the circuit is really hard on brakes. Using ferodo ds2500 pads.

I have the ATR setup on my 9, this week I have test fitted my drag slicks which are on 15" pro race 1's, also tried a friends pro race 1.2's just to see if they would clear. The pro race 1's cleared with a good 5mm between the barrel of the rim and the carrier, the 1.2's hit the barrel, no way unless a big spacer was used or shaving the carrier down.

Interesting.. in another thread a guy was using atr setup with 1.2's and 5mm spacer. I guess it depends on the offset of the rim too

Is abs not a problem with aggressive pads?

The 1.2's I tried were ET35, my 1's are ET40, so the 1.2's 'stuck out' 5mm more and still caught unfortunately.

I've never had a problem with my ABS whilst running an aggressive pad on track.

My 1.2's are et38 i think. Hopefully i will find a way to make the atr setup work or i'll have to stick with 282mm discs.

Do you think it helps? I've my abs taken out already as i assumed it would be a disaster in a track car!

You could just do what I've done and go 16" wheels so you can utilise the 300mm discs, I honestly don't see the point using ATR calipers if you're staying 282mm.

No idea what it's like without ABS as I've never tried it.

I'll have to use up my stock of 15" tyres before moving to 16's :nice:
