ek9 power problem

sorry to re ask my questin , i have a 1995 jdm gsr engine, type-r trans , swaped into a 1999 ek9, i never changed the fuel pump from my weak little d16 or 17 whatever it was . should i change it , my car started sputtering at high rpms , i have msd box ,wires , cap and coil , and distributor king high temp disributer cause i was burning up my stock one's. i bought a walbro 255 pump , does anyone think this will improve power and will i need a fuel pressure regulator ?
 
first off you it sounds like you have an ej6 NOT an ek9, they are VERY different.

ek9= REAL civic type R
ej6= 96-00 civic hatchback with a sohc 1.6

now with that out of the way, i need to ask you some questions before i can answer yours:

what mods do you have? injectors? turbo? etc?
what type of fuel do you run?
what kind of ecu do you have?
what is your redline set at?
how much power are you making now?
whats your ultimate hp goal?
 
i think he runs stock b16b engine, i think you should change the fuel pump, and one other question, do you have a fuel pressure gauge? stock ek9 run at 46 psi of fuel by default.

he has a b18c (gsr engine in the US), but i dont think its the pump, unless the pump went bad, reason is, i too have an ej6 that i put a b16b in, it has no fueling problems and im on the stock ej6 pump.
 
yes , but im changing from a 1.6 to a 1.8 . jdm motor 180 hwp.

i have a jdm gsr 1.8 liter b18c 180 whp with a integra type-r trans with lsd , usdm non chiped ecu no speed limiter, stock injectors and pretty much nothing else done to the engine, msd wires ,6a box and external coil, a distributor king distributor ,4 into 1 headers , no cat just pipe , run super fuel only, redline at stock 8500 or whatever it is , by the way what is the base model for a ek9, a ek6 right , so i have a ek8 at least. and what is the differenc if you strip both cars to the frame , nothing just basic components ek6- ek9 they are the same identical car , type-r just better parts
 
found the problem , burnt up distributorcap & rotor. easy fix , back to burnin rubber.
