EK9 Racecar

loving the Vstack! i have some crazy idea for an airbox on my car but we'll see if it developes into something or not.
Yeh man all about the Vstack! It'll definitely give a good cold air feed for the turbo.
What's the plans for yours?

im thinking to make a box, abit like the tegiwa/gruppe M airboxes for ep3s. tuck it behind the bumper and have it feed by the remaining bumper hole i have.

a quick test version shouldnt cost me too much to make so worth a go. means no heat soaking the filter and no water getting to it either.

Cool man, good winter project.

Oh hello!

Mocked up the Intercooler today!
Just worked out where I want it to sit etc.
Treated the front end to some more underseal to keep it fresh!

As you can see I’ve cut out most of the crash bar! I made a top Intercooler mount at work using material from an old dog gaurd I found in the skip lol!

I need to modify it further so the cooler sits 40mm higher. I made the mount so you can adjust the Intercooler on the mount.

This is the height it will sit at when it’s done, atm it’s just resting on some sockets.

And my intake idea will work by the looks of it. Most difficult but will be the bumper.
Kind of wish I had a drag style front end!

Modified the mounting bracket today, so that it sits 40mm higher.

Looks good, Hopefully that filter will help with getting some colder air in.

Yeh hopefully it will work, I’ll get the cooler bolted on this weekend and then I’ll be able to start playing with the bumper to see if it will work.

Today was a success!
Got the Intercooler mounted  and 80% plumbed in.

I’ve very happy with how it’s turned out, the cooler sits nicely, and it’s nice and high.
Now the cooler is in place I can finalise the design for the bumper and intake, I’ve got it all worked out in my head and marked out on the bumper, it’ll be a fair bit of work but it should be worth it. Will start on the bumper next week! So stay tuned!

And finally, you all know that @jesse888 tuned my car, and I say time and time again about how much of an amazing job he’s done.
Well I thought it was time to start spreading the word! So I had some stickers made up to advertise him.

He’s a great tuner and it shows as he’s starting getting a few customers now!
Give this guy a chance, you won’t be disappointed.

Viewers with a sensitivity to altering JDM oem Honda parts, look away now. Well tbh just don’t look at my build thread at all!

To get the bumper how I want it, first step was too permanently attach the bottom lip to the bumper. I did this by using a little bit of fibreglass isopon and screws.

Then I cut out some plastic out of an old brake cleaner container to fill in some big gaps that I want to fill.
EADF9569-20B8-483E-9906-3CF20F42C4BA.jpeg

Then using a hot glue gun, I glued the panels into place.

Made the hole bigger!
31CAF5E6-C71D-4461-8D1A-37302CEEFFDC.jpeg

Then added winglets in to guide the air inwards.
And first test fitted tonight.
I need to do something with the lower lip in front of the cooler, as it’s covering it, which is wasted cooling!
Obviously this is no where near done yet, but you get the idea.
Need to mark up where the V stack will sit and cut a hole for it.

Ignore the difference in plastic colour for now, it’ll all be white.

Thanks man, it’s getting there.
I have a vision in my head of what I want it to look like lol.
Hopefully it’ll work out.

I made the hole a bit bigger by lowering the bottom lip in the middle a bit, which worked out well.

I then used a heavy grit DA to sand away the glue and too rough up the plastic ready for the p40 fibreglass mash to smooth edges, fill cracks....lol
And to make the bumper one piece, which is the plan.

Looks a mess at the moment!
