hi lads basically me an my brother got home from holidays two days ago and when he jump started the coupe (it has a **** battery) the srs light came on .. he is jus wondering is there any common problem that he should try fixing before bringing it to honda and paying the 50 for diagnostics we were gone for 9 days with car just sitting up ..thanks in advance if you can help :D

Does/did it have the standard airbag steering wheel always fitted ?

It too me 10 secs to turn it off there is a tutorial on this forum about it and yes in most old civic it randomly comes on

Copied:

For the airbag light you need to fit the bulb back in then use the M.E.S connector to erase the fault , resetting the ecu does not erase SRS codes.

Undo your lower kick panel , under your steering wheel , find the fuse panel .
There will be a 2pin plug with a yellow lead plugged in it , take it out.

Then with a metal paper clip :

* Ignition off ~ bridge the 2 pins with the paper clip

* Ignition on ~ SRS light will come on for 6 secs. then go off

* Within 4 secs of the light going out , unbridge the 2 pins with the clip , SRS light will come back on.

* Within 4 secs of the light coming back on , bridge the 2 pins again , SRS light will go off.

* Within 4 secs. of the light going off , unbridge the 2 pins again , SRS light blinks twice.

* Ignition off , wait 10 secs , and badabing badaboom the light is sorted

But it will only work if the original cause of the fault is rectified

thanks for the response lads :) oh and yea it has standard steering wheel (never been off on his owership )
