Will be bringing my EK4 out of winter storage at the end of February and im looking into what I should be doing prior to driving it daily again. Car is due an oil change soon anyway and has been left in storage with only a small drop of fuel for the sake of it degrading. Is there anything worth doing such as using an engine oil flush prior to the oil change and using a fuel flush to clean out the tank and lines? What's the pros and cons, and the best products out there? And is there anything else I should know? What about gearbox oil and other fluids such as brake fluid/clutch fluid (though I doubt the clutch fluid as its not long had that changed along with a new clutch. Any tips and info much appreciated :)

When you say out of winter storage you just mean about 4 or 5 months yeah?
If thats the case i wouldn't use anything.
From what I have read all this additives are just BullShit
If your going to be putting fuel into it and changing oil i would just do so and drive it.

Total waste of money, the only people who would tell you otherwise are those who make/sell these "miraculous" products. As above, do an oil change, fill her with some fresh fuel and off you go. Buy a bunch of flowers for your lady with the money you saved (if you have one), or for the one you'd like to become your lady :) That's money far better spent than on any of those additives.

Yeah tucked away mid November. I heard some comments for and against engine oil flush before changing oil. Guessing this is a waste also?

Duly noted sir ;)

Yeah from what i have read unless its been a stupidly long time i.e. missed a few service intervals or its been sitting around for 3 years then its a complete waste of time.
If you really want to flush the engine buy some cheap halford oil, synthetic obvs, and do an oil change, let it idle for a while and then change it to the proper oil.

Lol at using synthetic to flush!

Flush nearly killed my gf's astra. All the gunk went to the sump and totally failed to drain. Then it blocked the oil pickup and gave low oil pressure.

Whats wrong with that? There barely any difference in price

EDIT: Okay I'll shut up lol

That's the similar stories I've been hearing! Will be avoiding then!

Spot on tbh, get the oil really hot before changing to your preferred oil. Get a magnetic sump nut and proceed to change your oil every 3 - 4 k max.
