Engine Rebuild

Id love to do an engine rebuild, but couldnt do it, dont have the knowledge. I have books on it, but would probably have to buy a second engine to try it on.

What Im wondering is what companies do engine rebuilds and what kind of money are you looking at for a rebuild? I love the idea of having a fresh engine.

Im sure people may say give it a go, but Im not confident enough, but would just like to get a ball park figure for having someone do it for me.

I may even then allow for performance mods if funds allowed.

Nothing as such, highish mileage, just interested in cost, to see whether its doable. I just like the idea of a rebuilt engine, being nice and fresh.

I meant to give you a shout to see what your doing with yours. Would love to give an engine a go, just not the best on the spanners.
 
I have also been thinking this, not as much how much it would cost by a mechanic, but me personally doing it, I have the confidence but just don't wanna go for it if I'm under estimating it :/, thanks
 
It varies wildly depending on which company would do it and what parts you are using.

A mechanic would be cheaper than a tuner, and some tuners are more expensive than others.

It's machining and parts costs that make it soon add up fast.
