Hey guys, im thinking about buying a ep2 civic sport as a run around while my ek9 comes off the road for abit.

What sort of mpg do they get? I know there quoted around 42mpg but i really want to know what there like in real life

Any problems they suffer from? ect

thanks

There not a bad car tbh nice drive good mpg cheapish to insure only problem is watch out for the common gearbox problem, they tend to need a gearbox overhaul at 50k as the mainshaft bearings just whine and crunch, other then that make sure it has a good history and hasn't been raged to death. U can usally tell a well cared one from a mile off.

ep3 not an option? usually cost the same amount now as an ep2.

mpg wouldn't be that bad in an ep3
efficient engine and six speed gearbox..

id be leaning towards an ep3

I use to have a 2003 EP2. Good car. I never had any problems with it. I'm sure i use to get about 400 I'sh miles to a tank.

There's no way a ep3 would be more economical then a ep2, as to having 6 speed that doesn't mean it going to be more economical because it has a 2.0l dohc vtec engine which is going to rev higher then a ep and going to be a extra 500 + to insure. Ep2 is a cracking daily I would recommend a facelift on as they look the best.

My mum has got a facelift EP2 and never had any problems! As you said the D series engines are solid and very economical, go for it man. I am cheaper insuring my mums EP2 rather than my EJ9 lol

We loved our black 3dr facelift ep2. Really ecconomical and nice to drive, between 35-60mpg!
Dunx

Winner! i like the sound of that mpg haha Can go have a look at one at the week end :)

if u want a run around just get a golf diesel or a shitty 106.

I had one of these for 3 years, never had any problems almost ran on air think it got at least 40-45mpg. It was a really good compromise, cheap to run, insure, maintain and looks nice too. If I had to be sensible again I would definately consider another one :)

Ik heb hulp met mijn civic ep2 Ik ben op zoek naar een double din trim voor mijn radio zoals op de foto te tonen heb ik geen waardoor je kabels kan zien enzo
