------------------

moving on to new things

have had a number of things to sort in the time iv had the car but finally it is right and very strong. new buyer can buy with confidence.

i paid top money for what a 5 goes for just over 1 year ago with folder full of receipts and a kind previous owner so didnt think anything would go wrong, unfortunately the engine died on me only a few thousand miles after i bought it. the car is my daily driver and gets driven around softly so very frustrating!

Car chassis has done approx 45000 miles, speedo now reads in mph and miles on the clock.

New engine was fitted in May 2011 at a cost of £1100 by a garage im friendly with, and has done approx 1000 easy miles since. It is a 6 block with evo 9 internals, many new sensors, new sump, and block is very very clean with none of the usual grime and dirt build up over time. receipt for the engine £3600

while the engine was out i was advised to get a clutch as well, so to ensure clutch is as strong as the engine, purchased a new paddle clutch from MLR trader at a cost of £400. stronger and not too much difference in feel to a stock clutch, maybe just a little bit more quick bite and heavyness, but its easy to manage.

after engine was fitted, it was ran around as little as possible and very softly for a few days until it was mapped at performance HQ by russ at a cost of around £300. very highly recommended service.

car produced a very strong dyno reading 360bhp / 345lb ft torque at normal boost. map is safe as requested by me due to not wanting any more costly trouble. russ found during the map session that the ecu appears to be an aftermarket kind but with no obvious markings of brand, so a nice little suprise, although i suspect this is what caused the engine failure as it has probably been fitted ( before i bought the car by the way ) and just ran, without being mapped and checked out, and car was running lean, unknown to me.

dont have any worries now, i have done things properly and it has all been fully checked out and russ can back me up on that should you wish to ask.

he also pointed out to me whilst strapping the car down to the dyno that the rear diff bushes had worn, which was what was giving a knockhing noise every so often. the car was booked in a few days later and this was done at a cost of almost £300 for parts and labour. a full geometry setup was also done and the car feels amazing now, dont know why i had never done that before, like night and day.

before the car goes to a new owner i am also due some recall work by mitsubishi ( thank god thats free for a change! ) on the rear suspension arms, and at my own request while this is being done it is easy to do the fuel filler neck with the arms off, and it was advised at the mot that it was a little corroded at the top. so thats going to be another £150 on top of all the other bills iv had in the last 2 months getting the car sorted and ready to rock. i will get this done ASAP.

car fully serviced and all fluids changed, new filters etc 1 month ago.

brakes needed changed approx 5000 miles ago and me being mr overkill decided to go for Dixcel carbon series discs all round and Z pads. this came to almost £1000 all in

car is pretty standard overall. few small additions to the interior and exterior include - nice alloy wheels, stainless exhaust which looks and sounds very nice, decat pipe, hks air filter, carbon fibre bonnet insert, ralliart mudflaps. defi egt gauge, defi controller, cd player, apexi boost guage.

have got HEL braided brake and clutch lines in bright orange unfitted, and also carbon fibre exhaust guard. included in sale.

11 months mot, 5 months tax.

car has a couple of scratches/chips on the front bumper and a scratch on one of the rear arches ( probably from dirt kicked up before i fitted the mudflaps )

apart fromt that inside and outside in very good condition for the age smile

no part exchanges or swaps please i have got a new car from a dealer which arrives 1st week of july, and agencies will not get the pleasure of my time. no tyre kickers or test pilots please.

honest car with everything listed that has been done and to my knowledge the car is fully sorted.

thought about asking £7000, but at £6500 I believe this is quite fair considering the new engine and the thousands that have been spent in the last few months!

thanks

----------------------

what i forgot to mention in the advert is the car has a toad alarm and immobiliser.

and

cusco cooling panel

new car arrives later this week so will hardly be used after that, so it will be available for viewing anytime really

thanks folks

i thought that was my old evo there for a minute until the spoiler was different :(

great price for the evo mate wont hang around for long

Ye I agree with fan on the price but don't no alot about evo's so didn't post thought it was cheap for a mint looking evo GLWTS :) thought you just bought a scirocco was that you mate?

collected my new car today. not a scirocco, that was originally the plan but i changed my mind within the cancellation period.

so as from now, unless its a show or something and i still have the car in my possession it wont be doing any real miles, so it is available to view almost anytime.

thanks for the bump on the price too, i also thought it was realistically priced. yes you get them for £5k but original engines with usually over 100k on them and quite rough round the edges is not an evo id buy. and at the oposite end of the scale there are some mental spec ones 10/11/12k for high 500/600 plus bhp.

so the engine is good, and the car is a good basis to take further should that be of interest. powerful enough as it is too for using on the road

the timing for trying to sell is rotten though, no ones really ready to buy these at the moment
