Driver side seat was in need of some work. I had previously purchased new covers AND new foam for both sides of my seat. The parts I got were from Capital Seating in the UK. The foam is OEM Recaro, but the bolster cover is their product. The only thing was...the new alcantara covers were quite a brighter red than my 26 year old Recaro fabric which by now is a dark pink lol. Thankfully my right side bolster fabric was in decent condition with no tears or holes, so I decided just to replace the foam in the right side thigh bolster and then steam clean the seat. Consequently I have both right and left side covers and a left side foam for sale if anyone is interested
I used this video as my guide and it went pretty well. Took a few hours, but that was me taking my time. While the bolster cover was off, I washed it in some dawn dish soap and some sonax alcantara cleaner and then rinsed before installing the new foam. Cleaned up the old foam debris with a shop vac as well, and then reassembled the seat sans the rails. After that, I used AMMO NYC's Titan 12 Degreaser on the gunky / oily parts of the seat (near the seams mostly - elbow and hip area etc). That took care of the majority of the gunk. I then sprayed the seat in sections with AMMO NYC's Shag fabric cleaner, agitated with their dual density interior brush, and then went over the whole thing with my steam cleaner covered by a clean microfiber towel, finishing with a final wipe with a clean microfiber towel.
The seat turned out so well! The thigh bolster looks great, and the hip bolster looks about as good as it will short of remanufacturing the whole seat.
I also took the time to thoroughly vacuum and then clean the carpet under the seat with Griot's interior cleaner, an agitating brush, and some clean microfiber. Yes... I've been doing lots of laundry
