First swiss EK9 (TypeRx) and modding story

So... today i got some parts i ordered a while ago at spoon japan. it's only a small part, but it will be part of a bigger intake-treatment.

i decided to remove all the useless and heavyweight resonator-boxes. this won't have a big effect, maybe a little louder intake-noises in the midrevs and maybe a bit better airflow, but i believe the biggest effect will be a much cleaner engine-bay and of course a lot of useless weight removed :)

here it is: Spoon direct airflow pipe (Carbon / Kevlar):

Of course i will paint it flat black. this will be a little more stealthier in case of the police checking my engine-bay, and it will better fit the colour-sheme of my project :)
all t he red parts will be removed, the green part will be replaced by the spoon pipe:

Come back to see t he update done soon..

Direct Airflow pipes are nice subtle mod, seemed to get more responsive throttle responce even if only slightly!

Look forward to seeing the billet coolant hoses fitted.... Never seen those before!!

hi guys.. well the billet pipes will need a little more time to get mounted. i tried to do it myself but had some hard trouble getting the old pipes out there. so i decided to bring it to my usual workshop while the snowy days come :) and at that point they also can mount the rear lower bar and the antenna cover..

i got another beaty in my garage. bought an old Datsun 240Z that will need a lotta love until she shines again :) but no worries. the EK9 projekt is still alive :)

1) I decided to respray the spoon pipe in black as police likes to take a look under the hood here and it's not allowed to remove resonator-boxes..
first scratched the surface with sandpapier:

than sprayed some plastic primer on and at the end some flat black paint.., looked like this first, but after a few more layers those small "holes" (from the kevlar weave) where gone..

here we go :)

a few days ago i decided to complete that airbox mod, before my Zed will come into the garage, and my EK9 will go away to my beloved workshop to get some things done during snowy winter days..

This is how it looked in the beginning (Airbox allready opened)

Upper resonator removed from the airbox and replaced with spoon pipe:

So, the project continues :)

1) i ordered some new parts (Still a secret, but you'll see in a few weeks, some very nice and rare JDM parts as usual :D)

2) got up early half six in the morning today, to make some test-shots in the sunrise today: These are the results (slightly modified lighting in Photoshop) and i really love the pictures :D
enjoy 'em :)

@ All - thanks a lot :D planning a few future mods, but currently my other project (datsun 240Z Fairlady) will become a bit more attention :) Some pictures and updates will come soon..

did you route the headlight cable from the fender ?

no, just routed them under the intake so it's unvisible. quite easy to do. not the hardcore way if you want to do a real wire tuck. but good enough to make the engine bay cleaner without a big cable-mess :)

oh, by the way, thought i may share some more pics with you. they're a bit more artistic than the other ones, but i like them :)

As im currently working hard on my S30 project and snow started to fall i decided to send my baby into the wintersleep and removed the battery connections and putted a cover on her. im currently searching for a good suspension setup so we'll see.. i think ther'l be a lack for updates next few months, but hopefully i'll get some things done when it's warmer again..

this is a shot i made some weeks ago at the last warm days:

and that's how she looks now.. sleep well :)

whoop, we're back again. me and my baby :D
after the car was asleep in different locations, she woke up on sunday and moved into her new temporary summer-home - great :)
old sleeping-place stored between some old busses and build-site machines:

After we charged the Battery i drove a little while to get the battery fully loaded and gave her a little wash from the old dust and cleaned the inside out a little, then it got moved into it's new home:

well and today i had my daily car for a service at the local garage and made out a date in 2 weeks to get those parts (lower arm bar, billet radiator piping, etc..) fitted to the car so it's ready for the summer.
As soon as all is done i'll try to get a photoshooting at a cool location.

Also i'm currntly working on my Datsun 240Z project hard and on the idea of a new blog-project where i'll try to get all my three car-projects into one blog plus some other JDM related stuff. i'll let you know :)

Looking good, glad she's out of hibernation ! Can't wait to see the other projects you have going, keep us posted mate :)

1) Thanks to Ek9.org Member "ek9ctr" who made a great write-up for dummies like me, i was able to remove the hood rod today, something i wanted to do for a while now..

As mentioned two days ago i had the EK9 at my local garage for some work:
- Installing the J's racing rear lower arm bar that has been laying around here for a while
- Installing the Sergeant billet Radiator piping with sensor attachement
- Creating a service-interval guide to get all the stamps of services in future :)
- Do the 80'000 km Service (Acutually 79'700 km's)

1) Service was done well and service book created from a FN2 Civic Service booklet:
P1040111-Kopie.jpg

2) Then the J's lower arm bar, first how it looked before (Without):
P1040097-Kopie.jpg

and after (With J's racing lower arm bar installed):
P1040112-Kopie.jpg

didn't feel a huge difference, but it looks good and i think i need to throw it hard around a few corners to feel the difference :)

3) Those sergeant hoses.. they weren't able to install 'em. first because one hose didn't fit with the genuine airbox, and second because the screw in the other hose (for the sensor attachement) wasnt a tight fit and coolant was leaking out. they told me it's all fixable, but for the moment i decided to keep the genuine coolant hoses in there..

4) Next? I'm still waiting for some information on the CST suspension, and i plan to get the ECU-Mode (for exhaust emission testing) removed to run on stock ECU again soon.

I've never felt the big difference with that bar, the only one i can say REALLY does the work is Next Miracle X.

Really clean EK9 and nice selection on exclusive parts! Keep it up!
