ive picked up a focus 2.0 zetec for dirt cheap because the head gasket was gone and after doing a few checks on the car im wanting to fix it rather than break the car.

Im needing help with where to buy a head gasket set for a focus. All my usual online parts places stock jap car parts only and as im new to the ford scene im wondering if anyone knows some good places?

Ive been quoted £70 for a head gasket kit from my local parts place and thats without head bolts which to me sounds expensive so wondering if theres a cheaper option?

ebay has head gasket kits for £40, but would you trust something like this.....

FORD MONDEO FOCUS 2.0 ZETEC 10/99-on - HEAD GASKET SET | eBay

thanks for any help

I've used eBay headgasket kits before, never had a problem tbf.

cheers pal thats good to know, i usually wouldnt bother with ebay stuff but i cant see much going wrong with a gasket set

cant believe some of the design issues with this focus not to mention a whopping 128 horse power from a 2.0 litre engine

Yeah too used to hondas Is the problem, other Marques just want there cars to be cheap.
I changed a headgasket on an Mgf roadster once, used eBay kit and did the trick nicely, changed Afew Corsa headgaskets with eBay ones aswell.

yeah since having this focus ive fallen in love with my eg again lol, nice to know you used a few of them, think il save myself 30quid and go with the ebay kit

cheers for the help!

first off, whoever designed the focus should be shot, compared to working on my civic this thing has been a nightmare but anyways...

i planned to change the headgasket and today i finally got the cylinder head off, its now clear why cylinder 3 was giving a very low reading on the compression test. I can see vertical score marks in the bore which tells me the piston rings are fooked and id need a rebore? :((

having never changed piston rings i dont know if id be better off getting it fixed, breaking the car or selling it all to someone who would want to fix it for a low price?

does anyone know costs of reboring a cylinder and if it would be worth doing?

thanks
