Gaming/work desktop computer ideas?

Apple I Mac :)

Was out at a customers house yesterday and they had an apple fetish! Imac pro, ipad, iphone, ipod the lot! I have to admit the imac pro looked the bomb!

On the look out for a good PC now as my laptop has bust, got fibre internet in and my old house pc cant cope with the HD stuff!

what`s that?

Very high speed digital subscriber line (VDSL) Also known as fibre optic broadband or fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) As i Work for BT i get it all free so I've got their top interent package of 80mb d/load and 20mb u/load. Well i would have that if i didnt live so far from the cabinet. So im getting around 20mb interent.

Fibre Optic, it's the replacement for the old twisted pair cable that is most widely used for networking just now.

In relation to the original question, if you have only £500 I would personally look at a bundle on Ebuyer or Overclockers as previously stated. It will be hard to build to a much better machine than the ones they are selling as a package for £500 unless you already have a HDD, (maybe)PSU and case.

Last time I priced up a good spec'd machine for myself (a couple months ago) I was going to be at least £900 and this was using an existing case, a basic HDD that I have and monitors, keyboard and mouse that I already had.

I don't really play games but I do a lot of intensive programming (was doing a lot of neural network stuff and now a lot of graphics programming) so I was needing a high spec'd machine but in the end I am using a year old HP Pavilion dv6 laptop because for the price (think I paid £450 including a 10% discount) I couldn't get a PC anywhere near the same spec.

VDSL i understand. 20mb internet isn`t to shaby. especially for free!!:win:

Yep, If i lived a mile closer to the cabinet i would have the full 80mb! lol copper and aluminium cable is terrible for broadband signal loss.

its a real quality product and looks awesome when lit up at night, aluminium pedals and shifter paddles and proper suede on the wheel, it feels like a real steering wheel not just a plastic stamped bin lid

when you turn it on it does a little starting procedure where it goes from center to full lock and then back to centre to calibrate itself
