As some of you may know, FreakyParts have been producing low volume, custom designed big brake kits for over 10 years.

I picked up an S2000 a few months ago and while in the garage a few weeks ago, I realised the kit we made for the EP3 will work with the S2000 so I whipped a wheel off to check, and low and behold it does! So thought it would be a good idea to put a group buy together for this kit and offer it to the community. Then it dawned on me the components will work on the DC2/EK9 so why not offer the same deal to the DC2 and EK9 owners.

This kit utilise the high performance, lightweight Superlite 4 piston caliper which has been tried and tested in every aspect of motorsport.
These calipers, combined with a 2 piece rotor using the Wilwood Ultralite 32mm thick rotor and lightweight aluminium bell means the setup is both hard wearing but lightweight.

The kit comprises of:

1 x pair of new Wilwood Superlite 4 pot calipers
1 x pair of new 298.5x32mm discs
1 x pair of custom fabricated Aluminium bells
1 x pair of custom fabricated Aluminium brackets
1 x pair of fast road pads (Wilwood BP10 compound or equivalent)
1 x pair of custom HEL front braided hoses
All bolts and fittings to fit the kit to your car.

The kit has been tried and tested on several different types of car both on the road and track and has performed flawlessly.

This kit has been designed to fit the S2000 and with the 298x32mm rotors will fit behind 16" OEM wheels (a 10mm spacer may be required) Modification to the original dust shield may be required due to the thicker disc.

The usual price is £869.00 plus shipping, but the group buy prices are:

1x £869.00

5x £799.00

10x £759.00

Optional upgrades include:
Ferodo DS2500 pads £65.00
Matching rear braided hoses £25.00
309.5x32mm UL Rotors £25.00
298.5x32mm HD Rotors £95.00
309.5x32mm HD Rotors £95.00

Should you require a pair of spacers making, we can supply these made to your specification. I can include these at cost price if purchased with a brake kit.

Below are pictures of the 2 piece setup as fitted to the S2000.

Below is a comparable picture of the Superlite pad compared to the OEM. (Superlite is top obviously)

Consumable costs are very reasonable for replacement rotors and pads. The rotors are between £75-£130 each (depending on UL or HD option) and pads start from £50.00 a set.

I will keep this group buy open until the end of October to allow for interest, orders will require a deposit of £250.00.
Kits should be delivered 2nd or 3rd week in November.

A template can be provided on request to print out and check your wheel for clearance.

Any questions, please ask.

Thanks

Sounds like a good setup, I have a few questions

- What are the differences between the standard, UL and HD rotors and can you post pictures of each?

- Are there any kind of safety locking nuts on the back of the alloy bells where the rotor bolts come through?

- How much are Ferodo DS2500 pads to buy separately for this willwood caliper?

- Are the calliper brackets different between the EP3, S2000 AND ek9/dc2 setup? And are the alloy bells a different setup for the 2 different generation cars? I know that to run the likes of a DC5 brembo on a DC2/EK9 that the discs need to be spaced out to run in line with the calliper

- Also I have HEL lines on my car so can I buy the kit without the lines at a reduced cost?

The UL are Ultralite Rotors. These are designed for fast road and occasional track use. They're designed to be lightweight with low consumable costs.
The HD are Heavy Duty Rotors. These are designed for more track focused and higher powered cars. They're heavier than the ULs by just over 1kg each and have thicker faces between the vanes.

We recommend the use of threadlock on all nuts and bolts, as nylon locking nuts may slacken off with the heat generated.

We would recommend to anyone regardless of whether a big brake kit is fitted or not to ensure the brakes are inspected periodically, and especially before and after any trackday as part of your trackday check list. You're putting the car under additional stresses so in the same way you'd check your fluids, pressures and wheels nuts, a 5 minute check over the brakes is well worth it.

The Ferodo DS2500s for the Superlite calipers are cheaper than their equivalent for EK9/DC2 front calipers. RRP on the Superlite pads is £120.00, the RRP on the EK9/DC2 is 150.00 (we can usually do a better price than the RRP though)

The caliper brackets are the same on the EP3 and S2000, but different from the EK9/DC2 so if you wanted to fit this kit to a DC2 it would need different brackets. This GB isn't for one generic "fits all" kit, the kit you order will fit the car you specify it for. The calipers and rotors for the S2000/EP3/EK9 and DC2 are all identical, which is why I'm offering the discounts across the different models as purchasing more of these brings the price down. There's not much to play with on the bells and brackets.

We would highly recommend fitting the HEL lines which come with the kit as they're longer than OEM to account for the larger diameter discs, and they have the correct adaptor for the 1/8-27NPT thread the calipers are made with. The cost saving for not having the hoses is £25.00

If you really didn't want the hoses included, the only way we could do it would be to modify the caliper to take an M10x1 banjo fitting.

Thanks for the detailed reply.. I hadn't considered the different caliper banjo fitting thread size so the HEL lines would need to be included with the kit then

What is the difference between the standard rotors and say the HD discs then? Would the standard rotors that come with the kit be good for hard track use on a car that weighs approx 950kg with the DS2500 compound?

Also, I am paying £126 for the DC2 DS2500 front pads plus free delivery so there isn't a saving there.. I thought that there was a DS2500 pad that is a good bit cheaper and can be used with this caliper by shaving a bit off the edge of the backing?

The UL are good for fast road and occasional track.
If you're spending more time on track than in bed then you have 2 options, buy the cheaper discs and replace more often - as they will wear more quickly or go for the more expensive and don't worry about them as often. Same as normal discs :)

The prices I quoted for the pads above are the RRP. I don't sell them for that price :D but as a comparison they're around £20-30 cheaper than the DC2 pads. As in if you have a preferred supplier, the pads for this kit should be cheaper than the DC2. The Ferodo part number for the pads is FRP501

Manufacturers like Carbotech and CL charge around the same for both SL and DC2 fitment.

Ferodo do 2 pad patterns for the SL caliper, with bridgebolt and without, but they're exactly the same price.

I'm very interested in this kit! Can you send me a template so I can check to see if they'd fit under my 15x7.5 et30 TE37's?

I sent you a PM with my email address but never received anything..

My bad, I've just found it in my junk folder. I'll let you know ASAP!
