i have a 98 ctr and lately the gears have been getting tight and some times grinding in 5th. its really only tight in high rpms eg(driving at 8500 changing to next gear the rpm would have droped to 5000 before the gear change)
relly need help asap is it clutch or something in the box?
 
i had a similar problem on my 94 sir. turned out that the clutch was contaminated.

is your biting point strange and jerky at times at all?
 
changed the oil last weekend made it slightly better.
very rare jerking.
what contamination was in the cluch or what caused it
think of putting stage one clutch next week to see does it make a difference

not completely sure mate as to whether it had oil on it by mistake when it was changed or whether it can/could of come from a slight leak somewhere..didnt matter as i wrote it off a week or so later.lol
 
The disc of the clutch is in bad shape. You need to change it.
 
this happens with age, try putting some pennzoil syncromesh gearbox fluid, i had a really bad 3rd gear grind and after using the pezzaoil fluid it went away and shift was 10 times smoother.
