title says it all, spent most of yeserday until very late at night working on car (someone else actually did most of work while i helped tbh), couldnt be arsed taking many pics etc but had few bits fitted

in process i ripped inner boot on driveshaft after shafts put back on car so still need to sort that so wont be driving car much until done, looks like i destroyed abs sensor fitting some roll centre adjusters as abs light now on (had feeling i had anyway) hammers around that area are kind of like friendly fire

luckily i have couple spare of ek9 so no biggy

another little issue but rang someone on here as he'd forgot to send item with item id bought, he didnt realise until i phoned though but should be sorted in few days :)), you know who you are and cheers :nice:

to top of on way home after all that about 1230 am, on road i drive on every day, dark and didnt even see it, bang :nono:

went back and took pics today as gonna file claim against council, caused this, its not a rota so not quite as easy as just odering new one, how it didnt break i dont know, bend looks repairable so will look into quotes

no vibration through steering wheel but have to get aligment done and get on ramps and inspected for any other damage, i took wheel of this morning to check and all looks fine, nothing wrong with inside of wheel or tyre

angry but releived as could have been lot worse, reported the manhole to some emergency line soon as got in as some like a biker would have been prob killed or badly hurt, told it had been reported and police and highway agency on way to see it

on good note, steps to improve handling have been done but wont risk fun in car until all little bits sorted, lot more chassis development to go and changing some stuff over next several months i guess after many calulations, R+D and design work from scratch by mate

gud god u were fairly lucky it didnt make sh*t of ur wheel. manhole left like that is a bit of a joke!

eeeek thats a bit rough :((

get the new box in then? How is it?!!!

be good to hear some feedback on the roll centre adjusters! They're on the shopping list along with some other suspension trick bits..........

manhole was damaged so had collapsed, as said im lucky i got away with just a light bend

ste, the roll centre adjusters are critical in getting things right, you want notice any if much difference but when everything is done and fine tweaked you have to have them to get things right, not really had fun in car yet as thought id let oil i put in mix well + driveshft boot issue

will report back on box when driven for a while with negatives and positives

just not happy at mo due to wheel and shaft boot, prob be weekend before all sorted then test drive

WOW youre lucky in a way tht there wasnt more damage dne frm the size of tht hole, where theres blame theres a claim lol

That really sucks good luck with your claim on local council

unlucky about the pothole at least you reported it, alot of folk would have just ignored it

Lucky escape by the looks of it! UK roads are shocking, in such a terrible state!

Wow luck the damage was only what it was and not worse. In December, I had the ball joint pop out while I was driving, fortunately it was while I was pulling away from a light, so there was no serious damage, broke my axle on the right side though...

at minimum i want reimbursing for whatever repair to wheel and refurb costs and alignment

ill get suspension arms checked to see if any damage but having fitted brand new roll centre adjusters same night and new oem bearing in that side about year or so ago wont be happy and pretty much everything else around there has been changed within last 6 months

the fookin amount of road tax were paying obviously aint goimg to that good use. Glad the damage wasn't any worse and good shout reporting it right away:nice:

reason for reporting soon as i got in is that if a biker had hit that they wouldnt be so lucky and could have been fatal

Thats some bad luck altogether, but the rim looks repairable,I've seen worse fixed.

Do you reckon you will be able to get money off the council for that,in Ireland its near impossible to get them to pay out

no idea but surely ill get something, something that severe could have been fatal, turns out somebody had reported before me so not happy something hadnt been done before i drove over it

That will work in your favour though, see a lot of claims for roads on the VW forums with people running big stretch and tiny tyres, and normally they need at least 2 people to have reported the hole before they thing about paying out. I cant see why they would not with this one though, that man hole is rediculous.

atleast your bottom end didnt let go :nice:

good times

anyone on here good at letter writing/work in legal field ? need advice on writing letter of complaint and intention to claim for damage (lot of which i wont know until get quote/inspection from garage)
